Services: A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 AM on Wednesday, December 24, 2008 in Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Bushwood, MD with Fr. Francis J. Early officiating. Interment will follow in St. Joseph's Cemetery, Morganza, MD. Visitation: The family will receive friends in the funeral home on Tuesday, December 23, 2008 from 4:00 PM - 8:00 PM with prayers being said at 7:00 PM. Lucy Mae Hurry Anderson, 91, of Clements, MD died December 19, 2008 at her home. Born August 8, 1917 in Clements, MD she was the daughter of Jon Donelan and Agnes Raley Hurry. She was the loving wife of Robert Lewis Anderson, Sr. whom she married on November 1, 1937 in St. Joseph’s Church in Morganza, MD and who preceded her in death on August 19, 2005. She is survived by children Robert Lewis Anderson, Jr. and his wife Dianne of Clements, MD and Virginia Mae Pierce and her husband John of Colton’s Point, MD. She is also survived by her siblings Philip Henry Hurry and Virginia Hurry Sapp, both of Clements, MD as well as nine grandchildren and seventeen great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her siblings John William “Scoogie” Hurry, Joseph Donald Hurry, Agnes Hurry Healey, Richard Hurry, James Raley Hurry, George Love “Scottie” Hurry and Betty Hurry Russell. A lifelong resident of St. Mary’s County, she was a graduate of Margaret Brent High School “Class of 1935“. As a young woman she loved to write poetry. Her poems always reflected her love for God. She shared with her husband a love of horses which led her to compete in many county jousting events. Together, Lucy and her husband established Anderson’s Bar. She worked at Anderson’s until her retirement in 2003 at the age of 86. She was a kind person of deep religious faith who was loved by all. Her family came first and we all embraced her love. It was always about what she could do for you, putting everyone ahead of herself. We will miss her deeply. The family will receive friends on Tuesday, December 23, 2008 from 4:00 – 8:00 PM in the Mattingley-Gardiner Funeral Home, Leonardtown, MD where prayers will be said at 7:00 PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, December 24, 2008 at 10:00 AM in Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Bushwood, MD with Fr. Francis J. Early officiating. Interment will follow in St. Joseph’s Cemetery, Morganza, MD. Pallbearers will be Joseph Blair Anderson, James Craig Anderson, George B. Gibson III, William Todd Gibson, Joshua Brandon Pierce and James Leroy Pilkerton III. Contributions may be made to Hospice of St. Mary’s, P.O. Box 625, Leonardtown, MD 20650, and/or 7th District Volunteer Rescue Squad, P.O. Box 7, Avenue, MD 20609.
