Services:
A funeral service will be held in the funeral home on Monday, January 5, 2009 at 7:00 PM. Interment will take place at 11:00 AM on Tuesday, January 6, 2009 at Maryland Veteran's Cemetery, Cheltenham, MD.
Visitation:
The family will receive friends in the funeral home on Monday, January 5, 2009 from 5 - 8 PM.
Livy Ann Bowles, 79, of Mechanicsville, MD died December 24, 2008 in Washington Hospital Center. Born July 29, 1929 on Tilgham Island, MD she was the daughter of the late Edward and Hazel Harrison. She was preceded in death by her husband Joseph Herman Bowles on March 1, 1999 in Leonardtown, MD. She is survived by her children: JoAnne Benfield, Kay Thompson, Eddie Bowles and Sharon Bell all of Mechanicsville, MD, Lee Bowles of Lusby, MD, Don Bowles of Coco, FL, David Bowles of Lexington Park, MD, Jackie Zielstorf of Hollywood, MD and Dale Bowles of Concord, NC; Siblings: Elwood Harrison of TN, Riley Harrison of FL and Thomas Harrison of Prince Frederick, MD; 16 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren. She was also preceded in death by her daughter Judy Kara. Mrs. Bowles graduated from Calvert High School, Class of 1946. She was a homemaker, a devoted mother and grandmother who loved her grandchildren. The family will receive friends on Monday, January 5, 2009 from 5:00 – 8:00 PM in the Mattingley-Gardiner Funeral Home, where a Funeral Service will be held at 7:00 PM. Interment will be held at 11:00 AM on Tuesday, January 6, 2009 in the Maryland Veteran’s Cemetery, Cheltenham, MD. Pallbearers will be Steve Benfield, Chris Thompson, Justin Bowles, Charlie Bowles, Joe Englerth and Tim Zielstorf.
