“I express my deep sorrow at Bootsie’s passing. To Woodrow, Donald & Kenny I will tell you of one specific memory of Bootsie and the fishing trip we took down to the target ships. We left Clarks Landing after dark stocked with plenty of beer and snacks. It was a cool evening but we were ready. Bootsie navagated to the ships like he had radar. The evening and night got much colder and the fish were not biting. I seem to remember Charles was with us so you know we had a good time even without catching any fish. Bootsie braught us home safely for he knew those waters like the back of his hand. I am sure both he and Charles are fishing in the great pond in the sky.”
“Woodrow, Donald, Kenny and families, You know how much we dearly loved Bootsie and he will certainly be missed by all. Our thoughts and prayers are with each of you. Love, Bobbie, Mickey, Ben, Michael, Carla and Aunt Esther “

I’ll never forget all the times fishing together, having a beer at Dew Drop or just having a good conversation,or his ability to cheer you up when feeling down. You will always be near my heart and in my thoughts and one day we will meet again and til’ then, Love Always Uncle Boots. “

“I recall the good ole days in Dew Drop rolling dice just about every day with Bootsie, the Fat Rat, Shep, me, Pop, and Hank. Bootsie was one of my best customers and friends. I still remember Bootsie teaching me and my brother Chuck to swim in the water at Clarkes Landing. He was a good instructor but Chuck was a bad learner cause he still doesn’t know how to swim but I learned enough to save myself anyway. Bootsie helped me SO MANY times as owner of the Dew Drop. No matter the task, if Bootsie Hill was asked he would help. Sorry to hear about his passing. “

“Hey Pop I know its a little later that everyone elses but I just found out I could do this. I miss you so much as do the kids the little ones know you are gone but don’t understand where, that’s the hardest I think. Nicholas talks about you frequently he really misses fishing and working in the garden with you, I’m glad he has those memories I hope they always stick with him. You are the grandfather to my children and I am so blessed to have had you there for them while you were. The pain will go away and the heart will heal but only because the good memories allow it too. You are missed deeply and I LOVE YOU!I’ll be sure Nicholas gets in your “honey pot” when he goes fishing this summer:)”
“I was stationed with Bootsie in Kittzigan,Germany. He was a hell of a guy and I am sorry to read of his passing. I have often thought of Joe over the years and I still remember joe’s wife sent a babies outfit,he was so thrilled to get it. I believe it was about a year later he was home sick, I bought him a ticket home, while he was on leave i left germany. Do you remember this? He paid me back. he will always be in my thoughts as he has been since the 60’s. If you knew Joe you would never forget him.”
