She departed this life after a long battle with illness. We know that it’s been said, “The Battle is not ours it’s the Lord.” Vicky received her education in Prince George’s County Public Schools. Vicky was a stay at home mom who donated her time as a volunteer worker at Vista. With that said, she always had a “can do” attitude with her work. Anyone who had the opportunity to know Vicky (This Lovely Lady) on other than a mutual occasion cannot deny the fact that it was a “Blessing” to have had that opportunity. Vicky and her girls had a relationship that some would desire to have. It was more than a Mother-Daughter, but it was an “Opening and Trust Relationship.” Vicky’s undying love, trust and encouragement to all that she touched will continue to surround and support us all in our journeys. Vicky enjoyed spending time with her family and friends. When it came to her hobbies; bingo, playing cards, casinos, Vicky enjoyed herself to the fullest. Vicky will be missed by all that she shared long conversations with on the telephone. “Those that interacted with Vicky knew she loved life.” She leaves to cherish her memories her beloved and devoted husband John McKissic; Lexington Park, MD; and mother Nellie Kline Mawson; 3 daughters Charita Gordan (Nathan), Angel and Sabrina Mawson; Lexington Park, MD, 2 stepchildren Reginald McKissic and Tracey Reed (Leroy), 17 grandchildren, 4 sisters: Barbara Garrison, Patricia Tippet (Robert), Mary Trejo (John), Debra Smith (Earl) 1 brother Steve Mawson, 3 brother-in-laws and 4 sister-in-laws (by marriage). She was preceded in death by her father Joseph Harvey Mawson and siblings; Thomas and John Mawson, Linda Edge and Judith Asmussen. The family will receive friends on Tuesday, May 19, 2009 from 9:00-10:00 AM in the Mattingley-Gardiner Funeral Home Chapel, Leonardtown, MD where a funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM with Pastor Garth Dockstader officiating. Interment will follow in Trinity Memorial Gardens, Walforf, MD. Pallbearers will be Daniel Rasmussen, Robert Tippet, Jr., William Rasmussen, Joey Trejo, Earl Smith Jr. and John Trejo.
