“Judy we really don’t know what to say, Paul and I go back to a Med Cruise on the Forrestal in 1972 when we first met. To think we met again in 1979 and worked together for all those years until I retired in 2004 and I came back for his in 2005. Paul was always the one I could depend on when the going with the crew got out of hand. I guess as Ann said he was a true friend and was a laugh a minute when we were out at the clubs. Yes I miss him and will always only remember the good times and the great things together we were able to accomplish. And you Judy and the boys I have know and worked with the boys, you all as a family can be very proud of what he did for his country and always when we traveled his family was on his mind when we talked . I could go on for probaly more than this site could record. He was part of my life for over 40 years and all I can say to you and the family is thanks for allowing Ann and I to call you friends. I will drive in for the showing. David/Ann Semat “

“Mrs. Penrod, Jimmy, Carolyn, and Steve and Family, We know how difficult this must be for you. No words can express how much a part of our life Paul was, and will always be in our heart forever. Paul was a very kind and caring man. Paul was more than a brother he was our friend. Paul’s bonds were reinforced by simple hand shake to the men and of course a good old St. Mary’s County hug or a kiss on the cheek to all the woman. He made us welcome no matter what was transpiring in his life, no matter how busy he was and, in recent time, no matter how much she was suffering. No one was a stranger to Paul, as with the first time you met him, it seemed you knew him your whole life. God gave us a true brother that remains with us through the rest of our lives, so close yet not with us in body any longer. There are so many qualities that Paul had, they are far too numerous to recount. His compassion, kindness, and gentle being will be sadly missed by us. We just wanted to let you know that from all of us at the Patuxent Moose Lodge Family Center 2393 of Hollywood, Md. we are here for you. May the comfort of God help you and your family during this difficult time. Our thoughts and prayers are with you. Fraternally Yours, Robert Hall Governor “

“We were shocked and saddened to hear of your loss. We have known Paul since 1980, he was always a good frind, and always a lot of fun to be with. Paul and I were on the road together many times. I will always remember the time in Denver when we nearly missed our flight, and Paul was running through the airport, jumping over people’s baggage. When we finally got seated on the airplane, Paul was exhausted, all sweating, and the stewardess asked me if my Father was OK!!! That was nearly true, ’cause when we were on the road Paul would take care of me like a Dad. He was a unique and dear man who will be greatly missed.”

“Dear Penrod Family, It saddens me with the passing of Paul. He was truly a wonderful man, and he always stopped to make time to chat, no matter what. It seems as though, his mission in life was to have you smile, and laugh before he left your presence. This was truly a gift, and took him a long way in life. He never met a stranger, and was a friend to many. May he now rest in peace, and be forever, in the heaven’s above, watching over us.”

“Judy, Carolyn, Jimmy, Steve, Kristin, Blair, Alyssa and families. We were so saddened to hear of Paul’s passing. Please know that you all are in our thoughts and prayers. We hold all those fun filled times that we were blessed to share with Paul and your family very close to our hearts. I’m not that great with words, but found this and thought it was what Paul would say to us all! He is Gone You can shed tears that he is gone, Or you can smile because he lived, You can close your eyes and pray that he will come back, Or you can open your eyes and see all that he has left. Your heart can be empty because you can’t see him Or you can be full of the love that you shared, You can turn your back on tomorrow and live yesterday, Or you can be happy for tomorrow because of yesterday. You can remember him and only that he is gone Or you can cherish his memory and let it live on, You can cry and close your mind be empty and turn your back, Or you can do what he would want: smile, open your eyes love and go on. “
