Services: A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, August 14, 2009 at 12:30 PM at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Mechanicsville, MD with Fr. John Mattingly officiating. Interment will follow in Queen of Peace Cemetery, Helen, MD. Visitation: The family will receive friends on Thursday, August 13, 2009 from 5:00 – 8:00 PM in the Mattingley-Gardiner Funeral Home Chapel, Leonardtown, MD where prayers will be said at 7:00 PM Agnes Lillian “Lil” Anderson, 87 of Mechanicsville, MD died August 11, 2009 at her residence. Born April 1, 1922, in Dynard, MD she was the daughter of the late James Dudley and Mary Agnes Lawrence Thompson. She was the loving wife of the late James Leo Anderson whom she married on December 28, 1940 in Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Bushwood, MD and who preceded her in death on August 15, 2001. She is survived by her children Ruth Ann Gainey and her husband Herb of Mechanicsville, MD, James William Anderson and his wife Patsy of Mechanicsville, MD, Mary Agnes Wood and her husband Johnson of Mechanicsville, MD and Anthony Leo Anderson and his companion Willie of Washington, DC as well as 8 grandchildren: Tammy Russell, Craig Anderson, Becky Stallings, Katie Wood, Brad Gainey, Chris Gainey, Andy Gainey and David Gainey, 12 great-grandchildren; Stephen Russell, Patrick Russell, Samantha Russell, Justin Nault, Corey Anderson, Cayden Anderson, Melissa Stallings, Hunter Darby, Jordan Morgan, Ryan Stallings, Raeney King and Jaedin King, and one great-great-grandchild, Wesley Russell. She was preceded in death by her sisters Frances Perry, Alberta Long, Lucille Lyon and Mary Thompson. A lifelong resident of St. Mary’s County, Lil graduated from Margaret Brent High School “Class of 1940” and was a farmer. The family will receive friends on Thursday, August 13, 2009 from 5:00 – 8:00 PM in the Mattingley-Gardiner Funeral Home Chapel, Leonardtown, MD where prayers will be said at 7:00 PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, August 14, 2009 at 12:30 PM at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Mechanicsville, MD with Fr. John Mattingly officiating. Interment will follow in Queen of Peace Cemetery, Helen, MD. Pallbearers will be Brad Gainey, Chris Gainey, Andy Gainey, David Gainey, Craig Anderson and Mike Anderson.
