Services: The family will receive friends on Thursday, March 18, 2010 from 5:00 – 8:00 PM in the Mattingley-Gardiner Funeral Home, Leonardtown, MD where prayers will be said at 7:00 PM. Visitation: A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, March 19, 2010 at 10:00 AM in Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Bushwood, MD with Fr. Francis Early officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. Donna Lee Pierce Lyon, 58, of Clements, MD died March 15, 2010 in Georgetown University Hospital, surrounded by her family. Born September 2, 1951 in Washington, DC she was the daughter of the late Lester E. and Robbie J. Pierce. She was the loving wife of Albert L. "Al" Lyon, and the loving mother of Patrick M. Lyon and his wife Sandy and Melissa M. Rhodes all of Clements, MD. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her son Albert L. "Speedy" Lyon, Jr. Donna is survived by her siblings Johnny Pierce and his wife Virginia Mae of Clements, MD , Leslie Serpico and her husband Mike of Richmond, VA., and her grandchildren Speedy Lyon, Dustin Gilbert, Danny Rhodes and Brittany and Kayla Lyon. Donna was a school bus driver for Holy Angels Sacred Heart School. She enjoyed riding around on her golf cart, a good game of cards, playing bingo and spending time with her family and friends. The family will receive friends on Thursday March 18th, 2010 from 5:00 - 8:00 PM in the Mattingley-Gardiner Funeral Home, Leonardtown, MD, where prayers will be recited at 7:00 PM. Contributions may be made to the Seventh District Volunteer Rescue Squad P.O. Box 7, Avenue, MD 20609 and/or Leonardtown Volunteer Rescue Squad P.O. Box 299 Leonardtown, MD 20650.

I would visit her at the hospital and Nursing center as often as I went. She seemed to enjoy the visits, as well as I enjoyed visiting with her. I’ll miss seeing her, but I know that now she isn’t suffering anymore. God has said that she has had enough. God rest her soul. My condolences to the family.”
