Services:
A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Monday, January 31, 2011 at 10:00 AM in Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Bushwood, MD with Fr. Francis Early officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.
Visitation:
The family will receive friends on Sunday, January 30, 2011 from 2:00 PM - 5:00 PM in the Mattingley-Gardiner Funeral Home, Leonardtown, MD where prayers will be recited at 3:00 PM.
Peter Paul “Possum” Hall, Jr., 77, of Chaptico, MD, died January 28, 2011 in St Mary’s Nursing Home, Leonardtown, MD. Born February 19, 1933, he was the son of the late Peter Paul and Agnes Virginia (Burroughs) Hall, Sr. Mr. Hall was the husband of the late Neadurra “Sissy” Hall whom he married in Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Bushwood, MD, on April 12, 1978, she preceded him death on August 31, 2004. Mr. Hall, Jr is survived by his step children; Mike Nelson from Valley Lee, MD, J.P. Nelson from Clements, MD, Kaye Mayor from Chaptico, MD. As well as siblings; William H (Billy) Hall (Helen), James H.(Jackson) Hall (Mary Ann), John E. (Puddin) Hall, Sr. (Ann) all of whom are from Chaptico, MD along with 12 nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his son John Paul Hall. Possum attended Sacred Heart Catholic School in Bushwood, MD and was a lifelong St. Mary’s County Resident. Mr. Hall was a Tobacco famer and worked at B. Frank Joy Maintenance Company retiring in 1999. Possum enjoyed playing cards, and making wine. The family will receive friends on Sunday, January 30, 2011 from 2:00 PM- 5:00PM in the Mattingley-Gardiner Funeral Home, Leonardtown, MD where prayers will be recited at 3:00 PM. “I have been an employee of CVS Pharmacy for 11 years. Always seemed to be the one to ring up Mr. Hall. I remember the first day I asked if he was picking up a prescription for him or Neadurra, and he said no it’ll just be me from here on out. I was so sad. He was a kind man. May he rest in peace.”
“Possum was a kind and gentle man. He was so good to me when I was just a teenager. Took me to many dances …..one of few that mom and daddy would let me catch a ride with. I thought the world of him as everyone did. Heaven has once again gained a wonderful person.”
