“Maria, Mark and children Your mother has been a part of my life, all my life, and I truly loved her. In fact, Maria, I was the one who drove your mom to the hospital in Washington, DC, the day you were born. I remember your dad, my Uncle Ted, as he gazed at his beautiful newborn daughter and tears of joy rolled down his cheeks. And your mother’s joy to finally have a daughter that was the light of her life! Your mother has been there for me from childhood through my adult years, I shall never forget her. May it be some consolation to you to know that others this day are sharing the pain and sadness that you feel. With love and cherished memories, Sibby and Chris”
“Maria, I am so sorry for the loss of your Mom. My thoughts are with you, Mark, and your children. I hope the good memories will bring comfort and strength to you and your family. Love, Jack and Jan”
“Aunt Tordy was pure joy and blessing wrapped up into one tiny package. She so loved her family, friends and her Savior. She would be telling us all to pray, love the Lord and His Blessed Mother and ealize how much peace and contentment surround her now. I will so miss our chats and visits when I come back home. She would spend most of her afternoon with her prayerbooks and novenas praying for all of us. What a cherished woman! “
“Dear Maria and the Schaller Family: My thoughts and prayers are with you doing this difficult time. Be there for each other and remember all the good times. God Bless you.”
“I worked with Miss Vicky at Bayside. She was tough and funny and independent and always the lady, one heck of a typist and made a mean lemon pound cake. To this day, when someone says “See you tomorrow” I hear Miss Vicky behind me saying “Good Lord willing and the creek don’t rise.” Her family had a special lady in their life!”
“To Maria,Bob,Iris and families, and to Maria Gay & family: We are very sorry for your loss. Vicki was a Wonderful lady. She is now your guardian angel watching over all of you. She will be in our thoughts and prayers. If you need anything please call. Love, Mary Agnes “
“Maria and family! Son and I were so sorry to learn that Aunt Tordy had passed away. I have so many fond memories that I will always cherish. Aunt Tordy was a wonderful person. She could always come up with something funny to say. We are going to miss her terribly. I can just imagine her smile and how happy she is now with our Lord and all our other family members who have passed away. She suffered terribly and is no longer in pain. I know she is in heaven looking out for all of us down here. Our thoughts and prayers are with you. Love, Son and Elaine”
“Vicki was Dad’s (Billy Sterling) legal secretary for years. I remember she would entertain us after school sometimes when we were waiting for a ride home playing tic tac toe for hours. She saved Dad from his awful spelling and she never seemed to mind working in that decrepit building he called an office. I remember Vicki and Mr. N and the nursery they owned in Compton. I have many things in my yard that came from there. She was so kind and smart–my Dad loved and respected her and I think the feeling was mutual. My thoughts and prayers are with you all.”
“Granny Vicky (as we all called her) was pound-for-pound the toughest lady there ever was. Fiercely independent, never wanting to burden others, she taught us all about self-reliance. Much of her strength came from her deep faith in God and all things. We will miss her, but pledge to continue as she would have wished, to live life simply but fully. Maria and family, the Schallers are here for you. Your mom taught us that.”

I hired her in the District Court of Maryland for St. Mary’s County and we worked together for quite a few years. Words cannot express the sadness that I feel on your loss. Her passing is one of great sorrow and she will be sorely missed. Maria, she was so proud of you, we both bragged about our daughters so much, she with you and I with Dedie. You all will have memories to cherish forever. May God bless each and every one of you.
