Services: A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday, March 8, 2012 at 10:00 AM in St. Aloysius Catholic Church, Leonardtown, MD with Father Ronald Potts offciating. Interment will follow in Queen of Peace Catholic Cemetery, Helen, MD. Visitation: The family will receive friends on Wednesday, March 7, 2012 in the Mattingley-Gardiner Funeral Home, Leonardtown, MD from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM with prayers recited at 7:00 PM. Helen Marie “Owens” Potts, 71, of Chaptico, MD, died on March 2, 2012 in Bushwood, MD. Born on November 8, 1940 she was the daughter of the late Marie B. “Heard” and Thomas J. Owens. She was the loving wife of the late Leonard Allen Potts whom she married on May 19, 1962 in St. Aloysius Catholic Church, Leonardtown, MD, and preceded her in death on April 4, 2007. Mrs. Potts is survived by her sons; Donald Allen (Sharron) of Leonardtown, MD, Father Ronald Allen Potts of Shrine of the Most Blessed Sacrament, Washington, DC., 2 granddaughters Natalie and Rachel Potts. She is also survived by siblings Betty Lou Knott (Alfred) of Leonardtown, MD., and Frances Veronica Owens of California, MD. Mrs. Potts is preceded in death by her siblings; A. Marguerite Norris, Thomas J. Owens, Jr., Mary Ann Hall, and James A. Owens. Mrs. Potts graduated from Margaret Brent High School in 1958, and worked as an Administrative Secretary for St. Mary’s County Public Schools for 28 years retiring on July 1, 1998. She was a lifelong resident of St. Mary’s County. The family will receive friends on Wednesday, March 7, 2012 in the Mattingley-Gardner Funeral Home Chapel from 5:00 PM – 8:00 PM with prayers recited at 7:00 PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday, March 8, 2012 at 10:00 AM in St. Aloysius Catholic Church, Leonardtown, MD with Fr. Ronald Potts officiating. Interment will follow in Queen of Peace Catholic Cemetery, Helen, MD. Pallbearers will be; Donald Potts, Jay Clarke, John Guy, Glenn Therres, Steven Guy, and Brooks Norris.
