Marvin Ralph Marks, 90, of Hollywood, MD formerly from Lanham, MD, died at his residence in Hollywood, MD. Born on December 28, 1921, he was the son of the late Hattie Emma Stickler and Ralph Oswin Marks. Mr. Marks is the loving husband of Rose Cecila Marks whom he married on September 27, 1981 in California, MD. He is also survived by his ex-wife Josephine Felix Cormack, children: Charles Marvin Marks (D-Barbara) of Emmaus, PA, Janice Lynn Marks of Baltimore, MD, Carol Rusta (David) of Elkridge, MD, and by his step-children: Carl Knott (Charlotte) of Hollywood, MD, Ray Knott (Emma) of Leonardtown, MD: and Patty Hall (Dale) of Leonardtown, MD., 11 grandchildren; Julie, Randy, Maya, Melissa, Krissy, Ray, Jr., Crystal, David, Dale, JR., Jessica, Heather, Jeffrey, and 12 great grandchildren; Jonathan, Roger, Mikayla, Emma, Bay, Landon, Conner, David, Dylon, Diamond, Linsey, and Justin. Mr. Marks is also survived by his siblings: Kenneth Marks (Eleanor), Esther Slack, (D-Otis) Eleanor Miller,(D-Matthew) Joyce Reichelderfer,(D-Leroy) Mildred Endy (Donald), Doris Moore (Patrick), Alverda Grello, all of Pennsylvania and Larry Marks (Anne) of Florida. Mr. Marks is preceded in death by his son Marvin Ronald Marks. Mr. Marks served in the United States Army for 3 years from December 31, 1943 to October 13, 1945 receiving the World War II Good Conduct Medal, Philippine Liberation Ribbon with 1 bronze star, American Campaign Medal, World War II Victory Medal, and Sciatic Pacific Campaign Medal with 3 Bronze Stars. Mr. Marks moved to St. Mary’s County in 1978, and worked as a furniture finisher for Danker Furniture retiring in 1985. He enjoyed golf, fishing, boating, crafts, and wood working. The family will receive friends on Friday, March 16, 2012 in the Mattingley-Gardner Funeral Home, Leonardtown, MD from 10:00 AM – 11:00 AM, with a Funeral Service following at 11:00 AM with Fr. Raymond Schmidt officiating. Interment will be private. In lieu of flowers Memorial contributions may be made to the Hollywood Volunteer Fire Department, P.O. Box 7, Hollywood, MD 20636.
