A Funeral Service will be held on Friday, August 23, 2013 at 11:00 AM in the Mattingley-Gardiner Funeral Home Chapel, Leonardtown, MD with Deacon William Kyte officiating. Interment will be private.

The family will receive friends on Friday, August 23, 2013 from 10:00 AM -11:00 AM in the Mattingley-Gardiner Funeral Home, Leonardtown, MD.
Joyce Susan DeVenny 63, of Mechanicsville, MD., formerly from Falls Church, VA passed away on August 18, 2013 in Washington, DC. Born on June 30, 1950 in Washington, DC., she was the daughter of the late William J. and Betty Peters Janes. Joyce was the loving wife of Howard DeVenny whom she married on June 26, 1973 in Alexandria, VA. Joyce is survived by her children; Stephanie DeVenny of Mechanicsville, MD., son in law Jason Davis of Macon, GA., and 1 grandchild Abigail. Siblings; Nancy Conroy of Calverton, NY., Tommy Janes of Princeton, WV., Phyllis Kuhn of Mechanicsville, MD., and Ricky Janes of Stafford, VA. She graduated from George C. Marshall High School in Falls Church, VA., in 1968. Joyce worked as a secretary for the United States Government for 25 years retiring on January 3, 1997. She moved from Herndon, VA to St. Mary’s County in June, 1999. Joyce enjoyed camping and gardening. The family will receive friends on Friday, August 23, 2013 from 10:00 AM – 11:00 AM in the Mattingley-Gardiner Funeral Home, Leonardtown, MD. A Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 AM in the Mattingley-Gardiner Funeral Home Chapel. Contributions may be made to the St. Mary’s Animal Welfare League P.O.
