A Graveside Service will be held on Monday, December 16, 2013 at 11:00 in Charles Memorial Gardens, Leonardtown, MD with Father Charles Cortinovis officiating.
Francis “Mussie” Alvin Latham, 79 of Chaptico, MD died December 14, 2013 at his residence. Born December 6, 1934 in Chaptico, MD to the late Maude Russell Latham and James Leonard Latham. Mussie was preceded in death by his wife Lillia Victoria Graves Latham whom he married on January 2, 1957 in St. Joseph’s Catholic Church.
Mr. Latham is survived by his children; Lorie (Paul) Joy of Mechanicsville, MD, and Judith Latham of Washington, DC, siblings, James Latham, and Eugene Latham both of Chaptico, MD, Irvin Latham of Clements, MD Joyce Latham Sandidge , and Lorraine Latham Okrie both of Leonardtown, MD, Delores Latham and Margaret Latham Hicks both of California, MD, grandchildren, Kellen, Kenneth, and Keith Polk, Owen, Lillia, Madeline, and Alyssa Joy, also survived by many nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Mr. Latham was preceded in death by two brothers; Joseph Latham and John Latham. Mussie was a lifelong resident of St. Mary’s County. He served in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War. He was a Printer. Mussie had a wonderful sense of humor with a contagious laugh. He enjoyed working on cars, hanging out with his friends at a local donut shop, and NASCAR.
A Graveside Service will be held on Monday, December 16, 2013 at 11:00AM in Charles Memorial Gardens, Leonardtown, MD with Father Charles Cortinovis officiating. Arrangements provided by the Mattingley-Gardiner Funeral Home, Leonardtown, MD.





“Mussie we will sure miss you, we always enjoyed our conversations with you, you were my dads best friend you would watch the nascar races with him and hang out at the donut shop and I loved painting your Toyota for you it made your day. We will dearly miss you but we know Bobby Lee met you at the gates of heaven. Rest in peace our friend. The donut shop won’t be the same. Love and miss you “
