Services: All Services will be private. Hugh T. Claus, 72, of Lexington Park, MD passed away on December 29, 2013 in Leonardtown, MD. Born on April 11, 1941 in Hackensack, NJ, he was the loving son of the late George and Elizabeth Claus. Hugh was the loving husband of Elizabeth E. Claus and is survived by his children; Brenda Ledbetter (Dan) of Lexington Park, MD, Thomas Claus (Rhonda) of Barnegat, NJ, William Claus of Bayonne, NJ, Patricia Claus of Beachwood, NJ, 9 grandchildren, 1 great grandchild, and brother Edward Claus. He is preceded in death by his brothers; George and Robert Claus. Hugh graduated from Hackensack High School in 1959, and he served in the United States Army in Vietnam from 1963 to 1969. He moved to St. Mary’s County, MD in 2008. Hugh worked as a manager for Shop Rite for 30 years retiring in April, 1996. He was a Boy Scout Scoutmaster Troop 14, and enjoyed building boats, crabbing, and camping. All services will be private. Arrangements provided by the Mattingley-Gardiner Funeral Home Leonardtown, MD. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to Chip Miller Charitable Foundation for Amyloidosis Research www.chipmiller.org .
