Services: A Graveside Service will be held on Wednesday, July 23, 2014 at 2:30 PM in Woodlawn Memorial Regis Park in Bluefield, WVA. Visitation: The family will receive friends on Sunday, July 20, 2014 from 2:00 PM – 5:00 PM with prayers recited at 3:00 PM in the Mattingley-Gardiner Funeral Home, Leonardtown, MD. Giovanni “Johnny” Monarchi, 81 of Callaway, MD formerly of Ashland, WV passed away on July 17, 2014 in Callaway, MD. Born June 7, 1933 in Ashland, WV, he was the son of the late Guisippi Joseph and Antoinette Quadtrone Monarchy. Johnny is survived by his wife Regina Price Monarchy of Callaway, MD, whom he married on March 1, 1985 in Leonardtown, MD, children; Marquetta (Jim) Gerety of Annapolis, MD, Annette Monarchy of Bowie, MD, stepchildren, Michael (Cecelia) Price and William (Cherry) Price both of Leonardtown, MD, siblings, Helen Wynne of Fredericksburg, VA, and Rosie Wynne of Norfolk, VA, 8 grandchildren, Tonya Jones, Brandy Nelson, Mikey Price, Jamie Price, Candy Rayle, Ricky Hammett, Steve Hammett and Kathy Redman and 17 great-grandchildren. In addition to his parents Johnny was preceded in death by his siblings, Lena Kafcas, Josephine Caprini, Nancy Neal, Delores Monarchy, Albert Monarchy, Tony Monarchy and Teddy Monarchy and Step-daughter Peggy Price. Johnny graduated from Norfolk High school in 1950. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War from 1953 to 1955 earning the National Defense Service Medal, the Good Conduct Medal and the Army Occupation Medal (Germany) he was also in the reserves for 8 years. Johnny was an Auto Parts Manager for the Ford Motor Company retiring in 1990, he was a member of the Mechanicsville Moose Lodge, Johnny enjoyed horseshoes, hunting and fishing. The family will receive friends on Sunday, July20, 2014 from 2:00PM to 5:00PM with prayers recited at 3:00PM in the Mattingley-Gardiner Funeral Home, P.A., Leonardtown, MD. A graveside service will be held on Wednesday, July 23, 2014 in the Woodlawn Memorial Regis Park, Bluefield, WV. Pallbearers will be, Michael Price, Jerry Lambert, Jeff MaCauley, William Price and Billy MaCauley.
