Services: A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, December 20, 2014 at 10:00 AM in St. John’s Catholic Church Hollywood, MD with Father Ray Schmidt officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. Visitation: The family will receive friends on Friday, December 19, 2014 from 5:00 PM – 8:00 PM with prayers recited at 7:00 PM in the Mattingley-Gardiner Funeral Home Leonardtown, MD. Michael Stanislaus (Stanley) Abell, Sr., 79, of Hollywood, MD, passed away on December 14, 2014 in Solomon’s, MD. He was the son of the late Mary Violet (Dean) Abell and James Dawkins Abell. Stanley was the loving husband of the late Ollie Virginia Abell, whom he married on August 20, 1955, in Trinity Episcopal Church St. Mary’s City, MD, and who preceded him in death on July 8, 2013. Stanley is survived by his children; Mike Abell (Carin) of Leonardtown, MD, Frances Francisco (Jim) , and Allan Abell (Dottie) both of Hollywood, MD, 7 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren. Siblings; Catherine V. Arnold, and David C. Abell. He was preceded in death by his daughter Mary Abell Riffe, siblings; Mary Agnes Taylor, Stephen Ignatius Abell, Joseph Bernard Abell, James Thomas Abell, Frances Patricia Burnett, and James Dawkins Abell, Jr. Stanley was a lifelong resident of St. Mary’s County, MD. He was a truck driver for Giant Food for 16 years in Landover, MD, retiring in 1997, and was a member of Teamsters Union Local 639. He was also a truck driver for Dean Lumber Company for 31 years. Stanley enjoyed working with wood, fishing, and playing horseshoes. The family will receive friends on Friday, December 19, 2014 from 5:00 PM – 8:00 PM with prayers recited at 7:00 PM in the Mattingley-Gardiner Funeral Home Leonardtown, MD.
