John Benjamin "Jack" Springer
April 25, 1930 ~ March 7, 2015
John “Jack” Benjamin Springer, Jr. 84 of Valley Lee, MD passed away on March 7, 2015 in Leonardtown, MD.
Born April 25, 1930 in Valley Lee, MD, he was the son of the late Aliene Cecelia Ridgell Springer and John Benjamin Springer, Sr.
He was the husband of Sallie M. Springer, whom he married on April 2, 1956 in Holy Face Catholic church, Great Mills, MD.
He is also survived by his children; Robert (Adair) Springer of California, MD, John (Vicki) Springer of Leonardtown, MD, Sallie (Greg) Studds of Melbourne, FL and Mary (partner Greg) Vaughan of Leonardtown, MD, siblings; Mary Britton and George Springer both of Valley Lee, MD, 7 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren. In addition to his parents Jack was preceded in death by his brother Charles Springer.
Jack was a lifelong resident of St. Mary’s County. He graduated from St. Michael’s School in 1948.
Jack was a Farmer and a Bus driver.
The family will receive friends on Wednesday, March 11, 2015 from 5:00PM to 8:00PM with prayers recited at 7:00PM in the Mattingley-Gardiner Funeral Home, Leonardtown, MD. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Thursday, March 12, 2015 at 10:00AM in St. George’s Catholic Church, Valley Lee, MD with Father Paul Nguyen officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. Pallbearers will be; Robert P. Springer, John B. Springer, III, Ray E. Gaskill, Blaine R. Gaskill, and Jonathan Springer . Honorary pallbearers will be; Andrew Fowler, Blaine Gaskill, Keith Gaskill, and George Quade

Sallie and family, my deepest condolences on your loss. Jack was a kind, sweet, quiet man who loved his family and friends. He will truly be missed by all. I had the great pleasure of working with Jack for seven years. No matter what Jack was dealing with he always had a smile for you. He was one of the strongest and yet gentlest man I’ve ever met. He will be truly missed but never forgotten. My deepest condolences go out to his entire family. May god bless your family during this time and always.

My condolences go out to the family of Mr. Springer. I did not know him personally, but I know he was a faithful participant in our Breakfasts for the 2nd District Volunteer Fire Department and Rescue Squad. After seeing folks month after month they become like a family of sorts. I am very sad to see he has passed and will miss seeing him. My prayers are with his family. May he rest in peace.
