Joseph Aloysius “Joe Abell” Abell, Sr. 71, of Lexington Park, MD formerly from Hollywood, MD passed away on April 6, 2015 in Washington, DC. Born on August 17, 1943 in Leonardtown, MD, he was the son of the late Mary Magdalen Abell, and Joseph Benedict Abell. Joe is survived by his loving wife Mary Margaret Abell, whom he married on December 18, 1992 in St. Mary’s County, MD. He is survived by his children; James Benedict Abell of TX, Catherine Marie Abell of San Diego, CA, Tammy Goldsborough, Joe Abell Jr., and Joseph Archie Abell all of Lexington Park, MD, Mary Abell of Bel Alton, MD Grandchildren; Steven Michael Holloway, Sean Wade Holloway, Shirley Ann Goldsborough, Joseph Martin Goldsborough, Christopher Smith, Alexandra Grosso, James Allen Ruger Abell, Lylah Carol Abell, Serenity Gray and J.T. Gray, and 1 great grandchild Jameson Grosso. Siblings; Elizabeth Pinkerton of California, MD, and William Abell, Sr. of Hollywood, MD.
He graduated from St. John’s Catholic School and was a lifetime resident of St. Mary’s County, MD. Joe worked for 13 years with B & B Maintenance as a cleaning person.
The family will receive friends on Monday, April 13, 2015 from 5:00 PM – 8:00 PM with prayers recited at 7:00 PM in the Mattingley-Gardiner Funeral Home Leonardtown, MD. A Funeral Service will be held on Tuesday, April 14, 2015 at 10:00 AM in the Funeral Home Chapel with Deacon Bill Nickerson officiating. Interment will follow in Charles Memorial Gardens Leonardtown, MD. Pallbearers; Joseph Eugene Goldsborough, Joseph William Goldsborough, Marty Goldsborough, Joseph Abell Goldsborough, Joseph Archie Abell, and James Benedict Abell.
