Philip Norbert Norris, Sr., 76, of La Plata, MD, formerly from Hollywood, MD passed away on May 2, 2015 in his home. Born on December 29, 1938 in Hollywood, MD, he was the son of the late Mary Catherine Abell, and William Richley Norris, Sr. Philip was the loving husband of Mary Rosalie Abell Norris, whom he married on October 24, 1959 in Our Lady’s Catholic Church Medley’s Neck, MD. Philip is survived by his children: Donna Sherman (William) of Columbus, GA, Philip Norris, Jr. of La Plata, MD, Janet Fincher (Julian) Alexandria, VA, 5 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren. Siblings: William Richley, Jr. Norris, John Abell Norris, Charles Joseph Norris, Dolores Wheeler and Betty Jean Guy all of Hollywood, MD, and George Franklin Norris of Mechanicsville, MD. He was preceded in death by his brother Robert Norris of Hollywood, MD. Philip worked a Machine operator for Southern Maryland Electric Company in White Plains, MD for 35 years, retiring in January, 2003. He enjoyed farming, gardening, and was a NASCAR fan.
The family will receive friends on Wednesday, May 6, 2015 from 9:30 AM – 10:30AM in the Mattingley-Gardiner Funeral Home Leonardtown, MD. A Funeral Service will follow at 10:30Am with Father Ray Schmidt officiating. Interment will follow in Charles Memorial Gardens Leonardtown, MD. Pallbearers will be: Gregg Radcliff, Jimmy Norris, Bryan Sherman, Glenn Norris, Len Guy and James Norris. Contributions may be made to Hospice of Charles County 2505 Davis Road Waldorf, MD 20603.

My thoughts and prayers to the family. Philip was one of the first co-workers I made contact with when I started in white plains as a linemen. I have many fond memories of our days on the job together. Philip was a great person may he rest in peace.
