Harriett Evelyn Martin (Guy )

Harriett Evelyn Martin, 70, of Prince Frederick, MD passed away on May 24, 2015 in Prince Frederick, MD. Born on August 4, 1944 in Leonardtown, MD, she was the daughter of the late Hattie Veronica Guy and John Gibbons Guy. Harriett was the loving wife of the late Bobby L. Martin, whom she married in 1985 in Gambrills, MD. Harriett is survived by her children: Bonnie L. Thompson of Onancock, VA, Belinda S. Shanks of Huntingtown, MD, and 4 grandchildren. Siblings: John G. Guy, Jr., and Lois A. Alvey and Daniel Guy. She was preceded in death by her children: Bobby L. Martin and Thomas L. Mattingly, Jr., siblings; Susie Belle Kennedy, Joseph L. Guy (Maxie), James Brent Guy, and Thomas W. Guy (Rooster). Harriett graduated from Leonardtown High School and worked as a Health Aide for State of Maryland Anne Arundel County Health Department for 20 years retiring in 2001. She was born and raised in St. Mary’s County, MD and moved out of the county in her early 20’s, however; she came to her parents home every weekend she had available. Harriett enjoyed being a loving grandmother. The family will receive friends on Tuesday, June 2, 2015 from 10:00 AM – 11:00 AM in the Mattingley-Gardiner Funeral Home Leonardtown, MD. A Memorial Service will be held on Tuesday, June 2, 2015 at 11:00 AM in the Funeral Home Chapel with Father David Beaubien officiating. Interment will follow at a later date in Maryland Veterans Cemetery Crownsville, MD.
