I have known Robert Steele for over 40 years. We partied together, he was even my boss at St Mary’s National Bank. I am so sorry to hear of him going to sleep. I am sure he will be missed by many old friends, he was a great guy. To Dianne, I know how it feels to lose a long time husband. I am praying for you.
Dear Dianne, My thoughts and prayers are with you as you go through this difficult time. Robert Steele and I go WAY back…We worked together at the First National Bank of St. Mary’s for many years. The 7th has lost a great man. May God Bless and Keep you strong.
Mr. Pogue always greeted me on Sunday mornings at Quade’s store with his gentle smile and oftentimes reminded me how much I looked like my mother. Sunday mornings will not be the same without him there sharing stories (some bigger than others) with his buddies Frankie and Mr. Lacey. Rest in Peace sir.
My sincere condolences go out to the Pogue family. Robert Steele was one of the first people I met, when moving into the 7th, in 1991. He greeted me warmly and embodied the spirit of a true giver to the community. His presence will be missed; however, his acts will remain in the minds of all he helped.
Diane, Terry and Pogue Family: Although words are of little comfort at a time like this, we want you to know that you are in our hearts and prayers. 7D has surely lost one of it’s finest citizens. May the good Lord wrap his arms around Robert and lead him to the peaceful land. He will be sorely missed by all who knew him. Please know that we are here for you if there is ever anything we can do.
Diane, Terry and Ann

Diane and family~ Sincere condolences on the loss of your husband & father. I offer prayers for peace in your hurting hearts and strength to get through these difficult days ahead. My husband and I were just talking about the lovely conversation we had when our hubbys met that evening at The Front Porch. It had been storming so badly,we enjoyed our meal, chatted a bit- then the skies turned sunny! It seems like sunny skies followed Robert Steele everywhere.
Diane & Family; Our thoughts and prayers from here in Williamsburg are with you and family in a such difficult time. Robert Steele really became a friend when we moved to the 7th about twenty years ago as he continued to be a stalwart for the 7th community, in particular the events and activities of the Optimists and Blessing of the Fleet. In later years we would discuss politics (predominantly local level), especially at Quades, your home and St. Clair’s. He will truly be missed as a mover and shaker in the 7th.
