Mr.Daniels was such an inspiration to me…full of life and fun. I asked him if he was the:Charlie Daniels and he said NO>…I have not his bus or money..so I said to him, Oh so you must be realated to Jack….His reply was….if I am realted to Jack…I wouldn’t be here…I’d be drunk and drinking w/Jack…got me laughing so hard tear welled up in my eyes…Charles was such a great lil man and loved the time he spent w/us…always was a delight to see and talk to him. R.I.P. Charlie <3
My Uncle Charley was an inspiration to me for many reasons. He was always a patient listener for one thing. No one has ever made me feel like they were listening to me as intently as he did. My earliest memory of him was when I was just in preschool. My family met him one Spring while in Washington D.C. He walked beside me, holding my hand while I talked and talked, like a small child will. The cherry blossoms were in full bloom and they surrounded us like a fluffy pink blanket. When I looked up to see if he was still listening, he smiled down at me with a twinkle in his eye that matched the light dancing off the reflection pools, and asked questions to encourage me to talk more. I continued to explain to him the ways of the world from my youthful perspective, and he seemed genuinely intrigued. Even though I didn’t see him many more times during my lifetime, I believe we formed a special bond that day and created an endearing memory for me. Years later it was I who hungered for the stories of his life, and for the perspective of someone who had lived to see many changes in the world. He was a great uncle that never forgot to send a card with a prayer for all the special events in my life. He had a brilliant mind. He explained Algebra to me so that I could pass my teacher examinations and he taught me how to play chess. Even though he was the truest gentleman, he did NOT let me win. It was his way of encouraging me to want to work harder and he certainly did have a glimmer of competitiveness about him! Uncle Charley, thank you for all you were to me. Love to you until we meet again!
RIP charley. I remember the times we played pinochle for hours on end. I remember the time you went camping with my family to Canada. Had a hard time starting the camp stove because of the wind in prince Edward Island. mitzi remembers you not for letting her win at chess and I remember that you played ping pong with Rose and the kids and played to their ability but at the end of the session you would show your skills.
there were so many memories that I have of you. So charley say hello to Rose for me.
Mr Daniels left us with so many memories. I can see him now sitting on the front step with his pants leg rolled up getting his daily dose of sunshine. You were a good friend. Mr Ray Sapp told me today he is going to miss his buddy. You sir truley are a remarkable man. Rest in Peace Mr Daniels
To the family of Mr. Daniels: Our thoughts and prayers are with you all. We did not know him long, only during his short stay at St. Mary’s Nursing Home. He is missed. RIP Mr. Daniels.
I will always remember this wonderful man who always exhibited nothing but unconditional love to his step-daughter, Brenda. It was a privilege to know Mr. Daniels and his witness of our Lord. The Christ-like kindness of this man will is evident still today. Many blessings to his loved ones.
