Susan Shultz Sonneman

Susan Shultz Sonneman, 71, of Lexington Park, MD passed away on March 31, 2016. Born on May 22, 1944 in Saranac Lake, NY, she was the daughter of the late Lillian Brauner Shultz, and Henry Herbert Shultz. Susan was the loving wife of the late George B. Sonneman, whom she married on December 30, 1995 in Baltimore, MD. Susan is survived by her children; Alicia Susan Cole (Kevin) of Williston, ND, John V. Barkwill, Jr. (Tammy) of Lusby, MD, and 6 grandchildren; Destin Robert Cole, Cameron Michael Cole, Raeyn Alicia Cole, Jarren Kendall Cole, Justin Daniel Barkwill, and Dakota Madison Barkwill.
She graduated from Bethlehem High School and Northfield School in 1962. Susan graduated from Cazenovia College in 1964 with an Associated Degree, Skidmore College, Saratoga Springs, NY from 1964-1965, and a Bachelor’s of Science, University of the State of New York, in 1988. She worked as a Contractor for Chamber Corporation.
The family will receive friends on Thursday, April 7, 2016 from 9:00 AM – 10:00 AM in the Mattingley-Gardiner Funeral Home Leonardtown, MD. A Funeral Service will follow at 10:00 AM with Father John Ball officiating. Interment will be private. Honorary pallbearers will be; John V. Barkwill, Jr., and Kevin R. Cole.

Alicia and John, I’m sorry for your loss. Susan was one of the wittiest, spirited women I have had the pleasure of knowing, working with, and then working for. I will never forget her laugh or her made up acronym RTFC (those who worked for her will know what it stands for). She was amazing and I have thought of her often since working with her – and I still will. She will be forever in our memories. Thoughts and prayers to you and your families.
I am so sorry to hear of Susan’s passing and wish the family peace and comfort during this difficult time. She was a one-of-a-kind lady who I will remember fondly.
