  9. Even if you didn’t know him well personally, any one who grew up in Sandy Bottom, Hollywood, Md., got to know who PW Clarke was. Most of us got to know him from his attendance at St. John’s Church when he was a youngster like us; he accompanied his parents each Sunday. His mother was well known for her pencil-rolled hair style that always left me wondering…how the heck did she do that? His father was a friend of my father and mother and best known to me as the gallent horseman who won all the jousting tournaments, riding his off-white horse. I marveled at his ability and wanted to do what he did – but wondered how I would ever be strong enough to hole up that long lance. He was graceful and strong and a good man. PW carried on the memory of him parents’ presence in the community – just by being who he was; a natty dresser who cared not what others may have thought and a deeply religious man who attended church alone every Sunday and also attended every funeral held at St. John’s for his respect in having known them even if only by sight and church events. He was a sweet soul who had a smile and a hand shake for everyone. May he rest in peace and may the memory of him long be spoken in Sandy Bottem for years to come.

PW was an extremely caring and kind man, and good friend, for many years. He always looked out for us and was always concerned with our health and how things were going. He truly did care about each one of the citizens in the County. If you were kind enough to share a bit of social time with him, consider yourself a lucky person who received Prayer from his humble heart. He will be missed. I know he is with Ethel & Philip, in the Hands of our Heavenly Father. God Bless You, PW.

  19. Evelyn 'Beanie' Bean says:
