William Richard Stevens, Jr., affectionately known to all as “Bill” or “Mudd”, 60 of Lexington Park, MD passed away peacefully at Mercy Medical Center in Baltimore, Maryland surrounded by his loving family. Born on December 11, 1955 to the late Mary Lettie (Hill) Stevens and William Richard Stevens, Sr. Bill met the love of his life, Phyllis Mae (Fenwick) and on July 28, 1979, they were united in holy matrimony. From this union, they were blessed with one son. Bill was educated in the St. Mary’s County Public School System, where he graduated from Chopticon High School. After graduation he was employed by Dean Lumber Company where he worked for over 40 years, before retiring in 2014. In addition, he was a part-time custodian with B&B Maintenance for 10 years. Bill was kind, soft spoken and always made time to lend a helping hand. He loved spending time with family and friends. He enjoyed listening to music especially, “go-go” and oldies, watching westerns in his favorite recliner, but his pride and joy was detailing his vehicles. In addition to his parents, Bill was preceded in death by his granddaughter, Journee; maternal grandparents, John and Sarah Hill and paternal grandparents, Frank and Priscilla Stevens; sisters-in-law, Margaret “Peggy” Carroll and Mildred Fenwick. Bill leaves to cherish his memories, devoted wife of 36 years, Phyllis Mae Stevens, son, Vincent Chapman, Sr. (Evita) and grandchildren, Jacarra, Vincent, Jr. “Juna”, Kevin, and Kennedy. His siblings, Francis “Doc” Dyson, Doris Holt (Joseph), Shirley Stevens and James Stevens; nieces, Leticia Dyson and Shameka Stevens and nephews, Donnell Dyson and Kellem Holt. Sisters-in-law, Agnes “Celie” Fenwick, Mary “Pat” Miles, Arlene Carter, Brenda Butler, Alma Elaine Somerville and Cathy Bush; brothers-in-law, Joseph Holt, George Emerick Fenwick, Robert Fenwick, Joseph Fenwick, Philip Fenwick and Charles Fenwick; Godchildren, Yvette Johnson and Chanell Somerville; and a host of great nieces, great nephews and a great-great nephew, other relatives and friends.
