Donald “Don” Joseph Morgan, Jr., 51, of Avenue, MD passed on January 6, 2017 in Zion, IL. Born on January 24, 1965 in Leonardtown, MD , he was the son Jane E. Morgan and Donald J. Morgan, Sr. of Colton’s Point, MD. Don was the loving husband of Charlotte M. Morgan, whom he married on May 24, 1986 in Sacred Heart Catholic Church Bushwood, MD. Don is survived by his children: Donald J. Morgan, III. Of California, MD, Olivia M. Morgan, of Avenue, MD, and his brother Robin J. Morgan of Avenue, MD. He was a lifelong St. Mary’s County, MD resident. Don graduated from Chopticon High School in 1983 and was a truck driver. He was a life member of the Seventh Dist. Vol. Fire Department. Joining the department in 1982, he had 34 years of dedicated service as well as being a member of the Seventh Dist. Vol. Rescue Squad.
The family will receive friends on Wednesday, January 11, 2017 from 5:00 PM – 8:00 PM with Fire Department Prayers recited at 7:15 PM in the Mattingley-Gardiner Funeral Home, P.A. Leonardtown, MD. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday, January 12, 2017 at 10:00 AM in Sacred Heart Catholic Church Bushwood, MD. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. Pallbearers will be: Robin J. Morgan, Mike Harrington, Tyler Williams, George Bussler, Joseph Norris, and David Burroughs. Honorary Pallbearers will be: Seventh District Vol. Fire Department and Seventh District Vol. Rescue Squad.

Charlotte,D.J., and Olivia,so sorry to hear that after all Donald went through, that he didn’t make it. He fought SO hard. God bless you and all the family and friends who loved him.

Donnie was a great man and a very dear friend. He was Assistant Chief when Mike was Chief of Company 5. We treasure our friendship and wonderful memories of him. My dearest Charlotte, I am at a loss for words. I wish I could take away the pain that I know you are feeling. I remember when you and Don started dating then being apart of your wedding and watching you build a lifetime together. He was always so nice to talk to and a great asset to our commuinity with his dedicated service. Please know that I am here for you, DJ and Olivia with anything you may need. You have my love and prayers at this most difficult time.

Sometimes terrible things happen to people we care about and this is certainly one of those times. There are no words. Be thankful for all the good times you shared together and keep those memories in your heart forever and know that you have many friends who care about you and will help you during this difficult time. Donald was a good husband, father, son and brother. Thank you all for sharing his community service with all of us. You all will remain in our thoughts and prayers. Hugs.

Charlotte and family, The old saying comes to mind “That God never gives us more than He thinks we can handle”. Trust in His love and your faith, He will carry you through this most difficult time. The members of the Bay District Volunteer Fire Department would like to offer our deepest condolences to fellow firefighter Donald “Don” Morgan. It hurts us so much when we lose a brother firefighter and Don was truly a great firefighter. May he rest in peace wrapped in the arms of our Lord. He joins some great other firefighters in heaven and boy the stories they have to tell.
