William Edgar "Tojo" Mattingly

William Edgar Mattingly, “Tojo”,74, of Lexington Park, MD passed away on January 2, 2020 in Washington, DC. He was born on April 15, 1945 in Leonardtown, MD. He was the son of the late Annie Elizabeth Mattingly, and John Franklin Mattingly, Sr. William was the loving husband of Regina Delores Mattingly whom he married on June 15, 1966 in Our Lady’s Catholic Church. William is survived by his children George Mattingly (Pixie) of Leonardtown, MD, Pat Mattingly (Chrissy) of Charlotte Hall, MD, Mike Mattingly (Amber) of Lexington Park, MD, Ivy Mattingly of Saint Inigoes, MD, 10 grandchildren, and 2 great grandchildren. Along with his sibling Betty Shepherd and Jane Hayden. He was preceded in death by his brother Frank Mattingly. William was a lifelong St. Mary’s County, MD resident. He was a carpenter/laborer for Cherry Cove Builders, retiring on October 25, 2005. William enjoyed a good game of shuffle board. As well as going to yard sales, and cutting grass for anyone he could. He loved his kitty cats Rascal and Smoochie. The family will receive friends on Wednesday, January 8, 2020 from 6:00 PM to 7:00 PM and a Funeral Service will be held at 7:00 PM with Mary Dryden officiating in the Mattingley-Gardiner Funeral Home Leonardtown, MD. Interment will be private.
