Memories Timeline

Guestbook

  1. My Dear Bob, the most kind, sweetest, funny, generous man I have ever had the honor of knowing. He brought smiles to my face at work every day rather his handwritten jokes on my desk, flowers he picked himself to my favorite candy. He was such a hard working man but found time to bring a ray of sunshine into everyone’s life. My favorite memory was Mrs. George 3rd grade class was growing flowers from seeds in her classroom, from the seeds he ran a vine from her class to my office and on the top of my computer was a beautiful spray of flowers, it touched my heart so. I will miss this man more than anyone will ever know. I know there is a special place in heaven for this kind sole who spread nothing but happiness. Love you Dearly Bob. Your broken hearted friend, Jean🙏💔🙏💔

  2. Robert and I shared a mutual love of dogs as well as all animals. He would take his dog(s) everywhere. I remember him taking me, my brother and Katie for the Bay Bridge walk. He took us on many hikes including Calvert Cliffs. He would drop by the fairgrounds when I was in horse shows. So many great memories. He was such a wonderful, fun-loving cousin that is greatly missed.

  3. Carole, David, Joan, Billy, Mary and Robert’s nieces and nephews – when I think of Robert I am reminded of the saying ” a life well-lived in a precious gift”. Knowing Robert was, indeed, a gift, but being able to call him a friend was a special honor. His obituary accurately captures and reflects the essence of who he was….kind, smart, hard working and humble. He was the kind of guy who always had a silly cartoon and a ready smile, and he offered both up without hesitation or pause. I have many, many fond memories of spending time with Robert, and I’d like to share a few of those memories with you here……great memories of going to flea markets and lugging away HUGE heads of cabbage (which he picked up for favorite teachers); kayaking down many a stream or river (and for the most part, staying inside the kayak); and enjoying a sunny, crisp fall afternoon splitting wood with him. But undoubtedly, my all time favorite memory was joining Robert and Carole on a hike up “Old Rag” mountain in Virginia. Robert’s indomitable spirit shone through as he climbed and trekked, scurried and scrambled, up the side of the mountain the same way he lived his life – taking time to enjoy the view along the way, offering encouragement and assistance to others on the path, and always moving forward, despite the difficulties or obstacles. And when we had finally ascended to the top of the mountain we enjoyed the shared sense of accomplishment and took in the awe inspiring view for a few minutes before Robert reminded us that we STILL had to make our way back down! Robert’s love of all animals is no secret, and he always enjoyed showing me the opossums, vultures, goats, ducks, chickens and other animals that he cared for so lovingly at his place. And although Robert was “top dog” of his “pack”, his constant companions – Mitt and Simon – were always by his side as he was their person! Robert has left us far too soon, but may you find comfort in having had a brother who was so special. His spirit will live on, and he will NOT forgotten, because we will continue to say his name……
Thinking of you with deep sympathy and a heavy heart – Diane Schwarz

  4. Sure will miss this guy, our beloved Uncle Robert ❤️He taught me how to ride a bike, drive a stick shift, canoe, ice skate on a pond, camp, change a tire, fix my own car, drive a tractor, build tobacco stick houses, introduced me to the piano and so much more. He made the best scavenger hunts. Best of all he was one of the few men in my life that I always knew I could count on no matter what. He rescued me many times. He gave me my first car and built me another one (which he made me pay for) after I totaled the first one. He was fun and funny, giving, creative and had a huge love of animals and gardening. He was hard working, kind, gentle and warm hearted to everyone. He always had a good joke and never forgot a birthday. He was the best uncle ever.

He will forever be loved and missed.

  5. Robert would cut tobacco for my Dad every summer. I will never forget Robert chasing me with tobacco worms when I was a kid. Than as I got older, he would give me chocolate cover gummy worms with a note “don’t forget about the Tobacco worms!!” He was a great guy.
