Donna Juanita “Donna J” Shaffer, 63, of Leonardtown, MD formerly of Hollywood, MD passed away on May 2, 2021 in Leonardtown, MD. She was born on May 21, 1957 in Leonardtown, MD and was the daughter of Elsie Juanita Newton Wallace and Charles Grant Wallace, Sr. Donna J was the loving wife of Charles William Shaffer III whom she married in her parent’s front yard in Hollywood, MD. Donna J is survived by her daughter Lesli Craver, 2 grandchildren, and her siblings Charles Grant Wallace, Jr. (Fay) of Hollywood, MD and Clifford Martin Wallace (Denise) of Leonardtown, MD. She was preceded in death by Elmira Elizabeth Davis Wallace, Charles Clifford Wallace, Sunny Wallace, Elsie Marie Hill Newton, and Martin Woodley Newton. Donna J was a lifelong resident of St. Mary’s County, she graduated from Great Mills High School in 1975. She was a Paint Store Manage for Sherwin Williams from 1985 to 2001, then she was the manager for Southern MD Paint from 2002-2015. Donna J retired in 2019 after being employed for 35 plus years. Donna J enjoyed being with animals, in particular her dogs and cats. She enjoyed breeding and raising Pomeranians and Himalayan cats. Donna J liked to draw, paint, and color. She enjoyed adult coloring books – she had a very large collection of books, figurines, and antiques. The family will receive friends on Thursday, May 6, 2021 from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM in the Mattingley-Gardiner Funeral Home Leonardtown, MD with prayers being recited at 7:00 PM. A Funeral Service will be held on Friday, May 7, 2021 at 10:00 AM in the Funeral Home Chapel with Deacon Ammon Ripple officiating. Interment will be private.

    I was so saddened by the news of Donna’s passing. I remember Donna as a very kind person that always said hello when I saw her. I seem to remember rabbits hopping around your house, back in the day, and many the figurines she had. Your family will be in my prayers. iola woodburn clelland
