I am so sad to see Pam has passed away. I will never forget the lessons she taught me during Horse-Back Riding lessons that make me laugh still today. On one such occasion she would always yell “Quit using your hands to hang on, and use that seat!” another time, “You should never put down that Horse because she has sacrificed herself for your poor riding skills.” Even though I do not ride as much as a I did back then, I still have that horse with me today!
At an MSA event we attended, Pam knew I was still green around horses. She asked me to put a bridle on a horse named Heart and show her around during a show. I didn’t know at the time that Heart had never had a bridle on her and was quite skittish, nor did Pam tell me this. I was able to get this Bridle on this horse, and actually walk her passed “scary” umbrellas and complete the show with no difficulties. I have realized now that because I was so stupid in this moment, the Horse just was stupid with me. I returned the horse and quickly realized that I had been set up by Pam and Nicki. It was all in good fun and it is a memory that makes me smile all the time.
So many memories from my youth involve Pam. She was a major part of my life in the mid 80’s. She was like a second mom as well as my trainer. My thoughts go out to her current friends and family for their loss. Nicki – big hug. RIP Pam…
Nicki- I am so very sorry to hear of your mom’s passing. I’d heard that she hadn’t been well. I know that she loved you very much, she commissioned my first horse painting to give to you. Though I never knew her well, she was a strong and vibrant woman. I am thinking of you, hope that you will find peace and comfort. Lori Sides
“If you aren’t bleeding stop crying!” Maybe I’ll cry now and pray for the family. “Of course I have a plan!” She would say, “But I am not telling you what the plan is!”
Things would work out!
So sorry to see this news. I remember her well from the horse shows. I last saw her a couple of years ago at Upperville. Hoping Pam and her family is at peace.
