regina price monarchy

August 16, 1929 ~ November 8, 2021

Regina Price Monarchy, “Gina”, 92, of Leonardtown, MD, passed away on November 8, 2021 at her home. Born on August 16, 1929 in Dameron, MD, she was the daughter of the late Loretta Trossbach Goode and the late Robert Lee Goode. Gina was the loving wife of the late Johnny Monarchy, whom she married in 1985, and who preceded her in death in July 2014. She is survived by her children Robert M. “Mike” Price (CeCe) of Leonardtown, MD and William C. “Billy” (Cherry) of Leonardtown, MD, her sisters Margaret Catherine Aud (Jack) of California, MD, Elizabeth Eleanor Dubler of California, MD, and Barbara Ann Rumpler (Bob) of Arlington, VA, her grandchildren Ricky Hammett, Candide Rayle (Bill), Steve Hammett, Mike Price Jr. (Amy), Kathy Redman (Benny), Jamie Price (Angie), and Brandy Nelson (Mickey), as well her great grandchildren Courtney Rayle, Justin Rayle, Kevin Hammett, Melanie Redman, Megan Bowie (Billy), Taylor Hammett, Hailey Redman, Olive Price, Audrey Price, Hazel Price, Jacob Price, Alex Nelson, Sarah Nelson, and Hannah Price. Gina was preceded in death on May 25, 1976 by her first husband, James Robert Price, whom she married in 1950, as well as her daughter Margaret Mary " Peggy" Price, brothers James Douglas Goode, Louis Alexander Goode, Robert Benjamin Goode, and John Joseph Goode. Gina graduated from St. Michaels High School in 1948. She worked as a Proof Operator for 27 years at MD National Bank, First National Bank, and Mercantile Bank, retiring in August 1994. Regina was born and lived in St. Mary’s County, MD all of her life. Her parents and siblings did sharecropping and tenant farming throughout the county. In the mid-1940s, they lived on the land that now houses Patuxent Naval Base in a small town there called Pearson. She spent much time working in her yard, keeping it neat and tidy. She loved to bake and cook, and was well-known for her chili, chicken salad (always in demand), and soups. Also, her desserts of Grammy’s Apple Cake, German chocolate cake, and chocolate chip cookies were all hits. However, her greatest joy and much of her energy was focused on her many grandchildren and great grandchildren. She loved for them to come visit and always provided a snack. One of her great grandchildren said, “let’s go up to Grammy’s and get some junk.” Another set of great grandchildren would always ask, “Mommom, did you bring us, chili?” Whatever the grands or great grands wanted, they got. They always loved to go there and play with her box of toys she provided, get all the snacks they wanted to eat there, and take a bagful home for good measure. She enjoyed daily phone calls and Sunday visits from her sisters and family. Her sisters always celebrated their birthday luncheons together with a big feast. Many hours were spent in visits from her godchild Becky Aud, talking about life and remembering the past. She was much loved and will be greatly missed by all. The family will receive friends on Wednesday, November 17, 2021 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM in the Mattingley-Gardiner Funeral Home, Leonardtown, MD, where a funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM in the funeral home chapel with Deacon Ammon Ripple officiating.
