Howard was born in Mechanicsville, MD on May 28, 1933 to the late Leonard B. Johnson and the late Imelda W. Johnson. He is survived by his siblings Charles (Bev), Joseph (Brenda), David (Sue), Mary (Don), Patricia (Jerry), Barbara (Jerry), Rose, and Genny (Yusuke). He proudly served 20 years in the US Air Force during the Korean and Vietnam wars. He was married to his wife, Irene Johnson, for 66 years. Together they had four beautiful children; Irene S. Linehan, Stephen H. Johnson, Mark E. Johnson, and Robert K. Johnson. In addition, he had five grandchildren and six great grandchildren, with two more on the way. Leonard was a resident of Las Vegas, NV, following his retirement from the Air Force in 1973. He served in a number of the US states and foreign countries, including Maryland, California, Africa, and Germany, achieving the rank of Tech Sergeant (E6) at the time of retirement.
