December 19, 1955 ~ September 28, 2023

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Ruth Ann Ghrist, 67, of Lexington Park, MD, on September 28, 2023. Scripture states, “My flesh and my heart may fail, but God is the strength of my heart and my portion forever” Psalm 73:26 Born on December 19, 1955 in PA, she was the daughter of the late Dorothy Burnside (Stone) and the late Albert Burnside, Jr. Ruth is survived by her children Tara Facini (Stephen) of Hollywood, MD and Christopher Ghrist of Carlisle, PA, her siblings Terry Burnside of Lexington Park, MD and Richard Burnside of Santa Maria, CA, as well as one grandchild, Jacob Ghrist, and numerous other beloved family members. Ruth has a very long list of accomplishments, both personally and professionally, and before retiring, she was a Diagnostic Prescriptive Teacher for the Calvert County Public School System for 21 years. Ruth was a woman of Faith, and she was able to volunteer some time to her Church in previous years, but most of the last 10 years of her life, Ruth had to set aside her own hobbies and interests; as she selflessly took on the roles of being the caregiver to her parents and sister. No funeral or memorial services are planned at this time. The family will make notifications in the future when a service is scheduled. If you choose to make a donation in Ruth’s memory, please consider supporting Community With A Cause Global Methodist Church, Bay District VFD/VRS, or Hollywood VFD. 5. Michael Peyton McGlothlin says:

I’m very sorry to hear of Ruth’s passing. I worked with her for many years at Mill Creek Middle School. Ruth’s work ethic was amazing. You could tell that she really cared for the students that she was working with and wanted to help them through the testing that she did. Ruth not just a great teacher, but a good person. She cared about everyone that she worked with her kind words and conversations. She will be missed.
