Rebecca "Ann" Davis
September 8, 1932 ~ December 15, 2023
Rebecca Ann Davis, 91 of Chaptico, MD passed away on December 15, 2023. Born on September 8, 1932 in Mechanicsville, MD she was the daughter of the late George DeBracy Burroughs and Clara Thompson Burroughs. Ann was the loving wife of the late John Kell Davis, Sr., whom she married on September 9, 1950 at the Immaculate Conception Church in Mechanicsville, MD and who preceded her in death on August 26, 1987.
She is survived by her children; Mary Litten (Don), Susan Keehan (Joe), John K. Davis, Jr., and Janet Lawrence (Joe), grandchildren; Donnie Litten (Becky), Ryan Dean (Brenda), Erin Dean Tennyson (Tim), Kelly Lawrence Simmons (John), and Todd Lawrence (Jessica), 12 great grandchildren, and her siblings; Edna Oliver, Shirley Mattingly, George Burroughs, and Wallace Burroughs. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her daughter Rebecca Ann Dean, sister Jeanette Cooksey, and brother Thomas Burroughs.
Ann was a lifelong St. Mary’s County, MD resident and attended Margaret Brent High School. She was a homemaker and enjoyed volunteering at the St. Mary’s County Nursing Center and the food pantry at Our Lady of the Wayside Church.
Her family would like to send their sincere appreciation to the St. Mary’s Hospice Staff and the friendship and care also given by Theresa Barnes and Heather Unkle.
Memorial contributions in Ann’s memory may be made to the Hospice of St. Mary’s, PO Box 625, Leonardtown, MD 20650.
Family will receive friends on Wednesday, December 27, 2023 from 9:00 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. in Mattingley-Gardiner Funeral Home, Leonardtown, MD. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Wednesday, December 27, 2023 at 11:00 a.m. in Our Lady of the Wayside Catholic Church, Chaptico, MD with Father Chip Luckett officiating. Interment will follow in St. Joseph’s Catholic Cemetery, Morganza, MD. Pallbearers will be; Donnie Litten, Ryan Dean, Todd Lawrence, Randy and Pat Oliver, and David Burroughs.
