Gladys Marie Taylor

Gladys Marie Taylor, 75, of Lexington Park, MD, formerly from Valley Lee, MD passed away on February 24, 2024 in Washington, DC. Born on March 22, 1948 in Valley Lee, MD, she was the daughter of the late Joseph Taylor and Mary (Dyson) Taylor. Gladys is survived by her sons Kevin Taylor of Piney Point, MD, and Mark Taylor of Lexington Park, MD, her siblings Bernice Taylor, Gloria Taylor, and Chester Taylor all of Valley Lee, MD. She was preceded in death by her siblings Joseph Taylor, Thereesa Taylor, Francis Taylor, Rosemary Taylor, and Billy Taylor. She was lifelong St. Mary’s County, MD resident. Gladys was a food service worker for 50 years, retiring in 2014. Gladys as a lifelong member of the churches and volunteered at local soup kitchens to help the less fortunate. Always known as a kindhearted and very honest person much like her aunt Alice and grandmother Susie. During her final years, she enjoyed barbecues and other family dinners with sons, spending time with her sister, watching Three’s Company and reuniting for family holiday gatherings with her sons Mark and Kevin. These were all very special moments for her that kept her happy and strong while enduring multiple health-related struggles. The Family will receive friends for a visitation Thursday, March 21, 2024 from 9:00AM – 10:00AM at the Mattingley-Gardiner Funeral Home Chapel. A Graveside committal service will follow at 10:30AM at the St. George’s Catholic Church Cemetery in Valley Lee, MD. Condolences may be made to the family at www.mgfh.com.
