Christopher Dodman Fast
May 17, 1957 ~ April 16, 2024
Christopher Dodman Fast ("Chris"), 66 of Coltons Point, MD, passed away on April 16, 2024.
Chris was born on May 17, 1957 in Ann Arbor, MI to the late Marvin and Diane Fast. In 1967, he moved to Oxon Hill, MD and later graduated from Oxon Hill Senior High School in 1976. Following graduation, Chris joined the U.S. Navy and set sail aboard the U.S.S. Caron as a Hospital Corpsman Petty Officer 2nd Class (HM2). After his time in the Navy, Chris obtained an Associate Degree in Nursing from Prince George's Community College.
Chris was a lifelong nurse, and a very good one, as it was a vocation he loved dearly. Early in his career, Chris became a "Travel Nurse” who traveled around the U.S to lend assistance in high-need areas. He later worked at the George Washington University Hospital in the District of Columbia, and eventually retired from the Medstar Washington Hospital Center as a Senior Nurse in 2023. Chris was especially proud to have been named a StarNurses finalist by the Washington Post in 2021.
In 1998, Chris married his “Sweetheart” Marianne Greer and became a doting Stepfather to Elaina (Gautier) Carter and Carlos Gautier, Jr. The pair were happily married for 24 years until Marianne passed in 2022. Forever after, Chris remained a constant source of love and support for the children. He was also very fond of his future daughter in law, Kait Watts (Carlos’s fiancé) and adored his Granddaughter, Kennedy Olivia; both of whom he treasured to the very end.
Chris prided himself on being a very positive, happy individual who had many friends. He loved boating (specifically cruising in his Stingray on the Potomac River), he enjoyed talking on the telephone with family and friends, and "jamming" on his guitar with anyone willing to listen. (Chris was an outstanding guitar player who will be missed on that score, among many others, most recently at the local pub in Coltons Point). He loved all sports, especially the "Washington Redskins" in their day, but also the Wizards, Nationals, Orioles, and Capitals. His support for his favorite teams was unwavering whatever the final result.
Chris is survived by his stepchildren Elaina (Scott) Carter; Carlos Gautier, Jr. (fiancé Kait Watts), and Granddaughter Kennedy Olivia, of Lusby, MD; his sister Kathleen (Frank) Baldwin, and his three brothers Randy (Nancy) Fast, Kevin (Kathy) Fast, Marvin (Elsbeth) Fast, as well as many nieces and nephews. He is also survived by his companion, Cindy Wolters.
On May 14, 2024, friends and acquaintances are invited to join the family at the Mattingley-Gardiner Funeral Home (Leonardtown, MD) for services; Welcome: 9-10:00 am; Visitation & Memorial Service: 10-10:30 am; Committal Service: 12:30 pm at the Cedar Hill Cemetery in Suitland, MD. In honor of Chris, a Celebration of Life will be held at the families' home, in Coltons Point, MD, immediately following the committal service (casual & family friendly)
In lieu of flowers, please make a donation in Chris's memory to Toys-for-Tots or your favorite charity.

Chris was always a genuine person. He was always positive and did not show animosity toward anyone. He and Marianne were the kind of neighbors anyone would be glad to have. He always kept an eye out on our property (next door) and let us know when things got scary because of severe weather and high tides. It is hard to believe that we won’t see him riding his lawn mower, going out on the boat or feeding the cat. We send our deepest sympathy to his family and friends. He will be truly missed.
