Luther Dent Edwards, Jr., “Bubby”, 84 of Drayden, MD, passed away on October 1, 2024, in Leonardtown, MD. Born on June 10, 1940 in Drayden, MD, he was the son of the late Myrtle Edwards and the late Luther Dent Edwards, Sr. Bubby was the loving husband of Mary Edwards, whom he married in St. George’s Catholic Church, and who preceded him in death on August 15, 2018. He is survived by his sons, Dennis Edwards, of St. George’s Island, MD and Keith Edwards of Fairfax, VA, his siblings, Virginia Cruse of Waldorf, MD, Lola Seidl of Vienna, VA, Shirley Rusell of Tall Timbers, MD, Sandra Donaldson of Great Mills, MD, Carl Edwards of Park Hall, MD, and Ronnie Edwards of Great Mills, MD, and five grandchildren. In addition to his wife and his parents, Bubby was preceded in death by his brother, Philip Edwards and Tommy Edwards. Bubby graduated from Great Mills High School and was a boat builder and waterman. Most recently, he was employed as a Machinist on the Patuxent River Naval Air Base. He enjoyed spending his free time crabbing and fishing. A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Maryland Watermen’s Association, 1805A Virginia Street, Annapolis, MD 21401. His model boats and accessories are memorabilia which will be enjoyed by his family friends always. His attention to detail is amazing!

    We are so very sorry to hear that Luther passed. We both knew him very well and worked with him on the base. He was a great person and had many talents. We always enjoyed his stories. He (and Mary) will be truly missed.
