Phyllis Ann Leymeister, 95, of Hollywood, MD, passed away on February 1, 2025, in Leonardtown, MD. Born on December 29, 1929, in Mechanicsville, MD, she was the daughter of the late Mary Genevieve Mattingly and the late Ignatius Wathen. Phyllis was the loving wife of the late Harry Albert Leymeister, who preceded her in death on August 12, 1981. She is survived by her children, Thomas Leymeister (Gail) of Newburg, MD, Brenda Stotlemyer (Kenny) of New Bern, NC, Bruce Leymeister (Berti-Jo) on Summerville, SC, and Hal Leymeister of Hollywood, MD, her sister, Jean Hammett Martin of Huntingtown, MD, nine grandchildren, 21 great grandchildren, and six great grandchildren. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her son, Curtis Leymeister, and her siblings, John Wathen, Imelda Johnson, Mary Arban, Elizabeth Tippett, Frank Wathen, McGuire Wathen, Truman Wathen, Sr., Joseph Wathen, and James Wathen. Phyllis was a lifelong St. Mary’s County, MD resident and graduated from Margaret Brent High School in 1947. The family will receive friends on Thursday, February 6, 2025, from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM, with prayers recited at 7:00 PM in the Mattingley-Gardiner Funeral Home, Leonardtown, MD. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, February 7, 2025, at 10:00 AM in St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, Morganza, MD, with Father Drew Royals officiating. Interment will be held at Arlington National Cemetery, Arlington, VA, at a later date. Serving as pallbearers will be Thomas Leymeister, Jason Leymeister, Bruce Leymeister II, Steven Leymeister, Daniel Leymeister, and Justin Welch. Honorary pallbearers will be Bruce Leymeister, Hal Leymeister, Kenneth Stotlemyer, Dylan Leymeister, Riley Leymeister, and Timothy Wathen. A Graveside Service will be held on Wednesday, April 9, 2025 at 11:00 AM Condolences may be made to the family at www.mgfh.com.
