MaryAnn McCloskey
March 6, 1954 ~ February 2, 2025
With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of MaryAnn McCloskey, 70, of Park Hall, MD, who peacefully left us on February 2, 2025.
Born on March 6, 1954 in Philadelphia, PA, she was the loving daughter of the late Mary Farrell McCloskey and the late John McCloskey.
MaryAnn was the loving partner of Reynaldo (Rennie) Batipps, with whom she shared nearly 40 years of companionship and cherished memories. In addition to her partner, she is survived by her children: Timothy Bradley (Megan), MarySara Peed (Matthew), Matthew Bradley and Alison Paul (David). She was the proud grandmother of eight grandchildren: Madison, Farrah, Owen, Connor, Ryan, Collin, Cameron and Caleb. MaryAnn also leaves behind many nieces, nephews, cousins and dear friends who were touched by her kindness and love.
MaryAnn is survived by her siblings: Catherine Goldy, Grace McKenna, Teresa Hughes and John McCloskey and was preceded in death by her beloved sister Margaret Garrison and brother Eddie McCloskey.
A proud graduate of Cardinal Dougherty High School (1972), MaryAnn dedicated her life to helping others. She worked as a Unit Clerk at Jeanes Hospital in Philadelphia, PA and as a Patient Advocate at MedStar St. Mary’s Hospital in Leonardtown, MD. Her work with children with special needs was a lifelong passion, most recently as a paraprofessional at Greenview Knolls Elementary School in California, MD. She also volunteered for the Special Olympics of Southern Maryland, brought joy to many through educational tours at Sotterley Plantation and shared her sewing talents with Historic St. Mary’s City.
MaryAnn valued the simple, beautiful moments spent with her family. She cherished her grandchildren, looking forward to their summer visits to St. Mary’s County, where they made lasting memories swimming, visiting Solomons Island and enjoying time together at Point Lookout. A true creative spirit, MaryAnn found joy in gardening, crafting, sewing and caring for her chickens. After retiring, she cherished the quiet moments spent with her son, Matthew, on their front porch—listening to the wind chimes, bird watching, and enjoying the sunsets.
