September 28, 1953 ~ February 15, 2025

Carole Ann Farr, 71, of Avenue, MD, passed away on February 15, 2025, in Leonardtown, MD. Born on September 28, 1953, in Leonardtown, MD, she was the daughter of the late June Louise Owens (Ellis) and Irving Bernard Owens, Sr. Carole was the loving wife of the late George Leonard Farr, whom she married on October 7, 1972 in Holy Angels Catholic Church, Avenue, MD. Carole is survived by her son, Matthew Farr (Amy) of Mechanicsville, MD, daughter-in-law, Laura McKinney Woodburn (Patrick) of Clements, MD, three grandchildren, Austin Farr, Madelyn Farr, and Maxwell Farr, and her siblings, Donna Cross (Robert), Bernie Owens (Kathy), and Don Owens (Kathy), as well as many nieces, nephews, and Godchildren. She was preceded in death by her son, Todd Farr. Carole was a lifelong resident of St. Mary’s County, MD and graduated from Chopticon High School in 1971. She was a Licensed Beautician, working for Frances “Sookie” Goldsborough at the Pretty Parlor in Leonardtown, MD until the birth of her first child. While staying home to raise her two children, Carole also cared for the children of many family, friends, and neighbors. She also continued doing hair in her home for her many loyal customers. Carole enjoyed volunteering with the Seventh District Optimist Club, where her husband George was a member. She also sang in the choir at Holy Angels Church for many years. She loved to travel and had many fun adventures with family and friends. Carole collected Longaberger baskets, was very creative, and her gift-wrapping skills were unmatched. She was an excellent cook and loved to host parties. She loved socializing and having a good laugh. To know Carole was to love Carole. She had a contagious laugh and a beautiful smile. Carole’s greatest accomplishment was loving and raising her two sons. She was a wonderful, dedicated mother. She couldn’t wait to be a grandmother so she could spoil her grandchildren. While she was waiting for grandchildren, she practiced spoiling and doting on her many nieces, nephews, and Godchildren. Carole loved nothing more than spending time with her family. She loved deeply and was unapologetically herself. The family will receive friends on Monday, February 24, 2025, from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM in the Mattingley-Gardiner Funeral Home, Leonardtown, MD. 7. Katherine Perry Mahon says:

My thoughts and condolences to your family. Carole babysat me for many years after school and in the summers. Some of my favorite memories are from those summers! I can close my eyes and still picture her home. The front living room where we were allowed to watch Nickelodeon until 9 am until we had to move to the garage for the day. The pool in the summers, the jungle gym that we used to set the trampoline by and jump off (probably not safe!). The snack basket of fudge rounds and cosmic brownies in the kitchen that were available after getting off the bus and the tops of the kitchen cabinets lined with longaBerger baskets. I also have distinct memories up loading up in the big suburban and she would take all the kids to McDonalds as a special lunch treat. She had such a big heart and an infectious laugh. I’m so sorry to hear of her passing. I think about her often as I now have my own children. I’m thankful for all her love and kindness those years she watched me. Prayers for your family during this difficult time.

Our sincere condolences to the family and prayers for peace in the days ahead.
Carole was Katherine’s after school care giver. We knew she was in good hands under Carole’s care. She loved Katherine like she was one of her own. I know that Carole would have loved Katherine’s two girls. I’m so sorry she never got to meet them. May you rest in the arms of the Lord.
