Helen C. Rotzinger

Helen Cecelia Rotzinger, 85, of Hollywood, Maryland, passed away on March 13, 2025, in Leonardtown, Maryland.
She was born on July 5, 1939, in LaPlata, Maryland to the late William Wilson and Agnes Louise Penn. Helen married Robert “Bud” Rotzinger at Old Fields Church, Hughesville, Maryland on May 31, 1958. They were together for 65 years when Robert passed away.
Helen was a military spouse for 40 years, a room mother, a scout troop mother, and team mother for her children and grandson. Helen enjoyed being outside and working in her flower and vegetable gardens.
Helen was a long-time member of St Andrew’s Episcopal Church, where she was the co-founder of the Thrift Shop and was the director of the Altar Guild for many years. Helen enjoyed being a part of the many fundraisers for St. Andrew’s initiatives.
She is survived by her daughter, Robin Rotzinger (Luchino) of Loveville, MD, and grandson, Stephen Stewart (Deanna), and great-granddaughter, Kaia Jaymes Stewart, of Hollywood, Maryland, sisters, Doris Pilkerton, Mary Anne Hall, and Agnes Farrell, sister-in-law, Cecelia Trivitt, and a host of nieces and nephews.
Helen was predeceased by her husband, Robert, her son, Kenneth Jay Rotzinger, her parents, and five siblings – Kathryn Conner, Jaqueline Long, William Penn, Jr., James Penn, and Barbara Lacey.
The family will receive friends on Monday, March 24, 2025, from 9:00 AM to 10:00 AM in the Mattingley-Gardiner Funeral Home, Leonardtown, MD, where a funeral service will be held at 10:00 AM in the funeral home chapel with Rev. Mark Z. Smith officiating. Interment will follow at Charles Memorial Gardens, Leonardtown, MD. Pallbearers will be Stephen Stewart, Luchino Stewart, Brandon Curtis, and Steven Carroll.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Andrew’s Episcopal Church or to your local Volunteer Fire Department or Rescue Squad.
Family will gather at St. Andrew’s Episcopal Church, St. Andrew’s Church Road, California, MD following the service.
