George Lancaster Lawrence

George Lancaster Lawrence, 67, of Chaptico, MD peacefully passed into eternity on August 19, 2025, at his home. Born on September 24, 1957, he was the son of the late William S. “Buck” Lawrence and Ann Fowler Lawrence. George was the loving husband of Robin Lawrence, whom he married on September 20, 2003. In addition to his wife, he is survived by his children: Stephanie Lawrence (Geoff) of Leonardtown, MD, Amber Lawrence of Bushwood, MD, and step-daughter Jessica Long (Kevin) of Mechancisville, MD; his siblings: Paula Lawrence Goode (Artie) of Bushwood, MD, Martha Lawrence Casner (Fred) of Bushwood, MD, Mary Lawrence Moreland (Syd) of Chaptico, MD, Margaret Lawrence Putnam (Larry) of Bushwood, MD, and Sid Lawrence (Jackie) of Bushwood, MD; his granddaughter Kamber Hammett of Leonardtown, MD and his step-grandchildren Ethen Thomas, Aleeyah Thomas, Samiyah Doar, and Makennah Doar, all of Mechanicsville, MD. George was a proud lifelong resident of St. Mary’s County. He graduated from Chopticon High School in 1975. After graduating, he began his career with the Steamfitter Union Local 602 where we would work for 37 years until his retirement in 2012. In his free time, he enjoyed water skiing, boating, crabbing, gardening, reading, playing cards, and rabbit hunting, which lead him to his love of beagles. The family will receive friends on Wednesday September 3, 2025, from 9:00 AM to 11:00AM at Mattingly Gardiner Funeral Home, Leonardtown, MD where a Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 AM, with Father Chip Luckett officiating. Interment will follow at Sacred Heart Catholic Cemetery, Bushwood, MD. Serving as pallbearers will be Sid Lawrence, Larry Putnam, Geoff Hammett, Ricky Wathen, Joe Oliver, and David Cullins. Honorary pallbearers will be Freddie Goode, Kamber Hammett, Ethen Thomas, Aleeyah Thomas, Samiyah Doar, and McKennah Doar. Contributions may be made to St. Marys Hospice, Leonardtown, MD.
