Joseph William (Jody) Van Ryswick, 83 of Leonardtown, Maryland, passed away on November 21, 2025 at Hospice House in Callaway, Maryland.
He was born on July 10, 1942 in Leonardtown, Maryland the oldest child of Joseph Francis Van Ryswick and Teresa Beall Van Ryswick.
He was the husband of Louise Van Ryswick whom he married on December 4, 1976 at Holy Angels Church, Avenue, Maryland.
Joseph was a 1960 graduate of Leonardtown High School, a veteran of the U.S. Air Force 1960-1964, and a member of Plumbers Union Local 5 for many years.
He was predeceased by his parents, his brothers Leonard Van Ryswick, David Van Ryswick, and Peter Van Ryswick, and his grandson, Justin Woods.
He is survived by his wife and his children, Susan Weathersbee and Julie Greenwell, his sisters, Evelyn Ryce and Peggy Wathen, and five grandchildren, Mason, Rebecca, Bethany, Megan and Ashley.
The family will receive friends on Monday December 1, 2025, from 5:00-8:00 pm with prayers at 7:00 pm at Mattingley Gardiner Funeral Home, 41590 Fenwick Street, Leonardtown, Maryland.
Mass of Christian burial will be held at Our Lady’s Church in Medleys Neck on Tuesday December 2, 2025, at 11:00 am.
Internment will be at Charles Memorial Gardens following the mass.
Memorial contributions to Our Lady’s Church Cemetery fund may be made to Our Lady’s Church (Cemetery in the memo), 41348 Medleys Neck Road, Leonardtown, Maryland 20650.

I am so sorry to hear of Jody’s passing. “May your happy memories give you peace and comfort during this challenging time.”
I will always remember Jody’s train sets. Matter of fact, the last time I was at his house, he had a very large set up in his basement. Our thoughts and prayers are with you all during this difficult time.
