November 13, 1947 ~ January 2, 2026
George Spencer Wallace, 78, of California, MD, passed away on January 2, 2026, at his home. Born on November 13, 1947, in Leonardtown, MD, he was the son of the late Mary Edna (Redman) Wallace and the late Joseph Spencer Wallace.
George was the loving husband of his wife of 55 years, Lucy Bean Wallace, whom he married on August 1, 1970. He is survived by his son, Ricky Wallace (Nancy) of California, MD; his daughter, Annette Abell (Johnny) of California, MD; his siblings, Joe Wallace (twin), Mike Wallace, and John “Bubby” Wallace; and five grandchildren, Christina and Kassidy Wallace, and Chloe, Courtney, and Grady Abell.
In addition to his parents, George was preceded in death by his siblings, Carolyn Barcikowski, Simone Hill, Tommy Wallace, Brenda Brooks, and Wendy Shaffer.
George proudly served his country as a Vietnam Veteran, completing 18 months of service in the United States Army. Following his military service, he began his career with the Architect of the Capitol, where he worked for 10 years. He later joined BAE Systems, retiring after 20 years of dedicated service as a Supervisory Electronic Technician.
Beyond his career, George found joy in life’s simple pleasures. He loved sitting outside on the patio, sharing a drink and quiet moments with his wife. He was always up for a good card game, and his grandchildren especially treasured playing a round of 31 with him whenever they could.
Some of George’s favorite pastimes included fishing, perfecting meals on his meat smoker, playing horseshoes and darts, listening to bluegrass music, never missing his nightly ice cream treat, and most of all enjoying time at the slot machines.
Above all else, George cherished his family. Together, George and Lucy were a steady foundation not only for their immediate family, but for their extended family as well, exemplifying what a strong and loving family looks like. George’s love, laughter, and steady presence will be deeply missed and forever remembered by all who knew and loved him.
