Frances Lorena Greenwell

Frances “Molly” Greenwell, 76, of Leonardtown, MD, passed away on February 1, 2026, in Callaway, MD. Born on September 18, 1949, in Leonardtown, MD, she was the daughter of the late Agnes Rosalie Pilkerton and the late William Joseph Pilkerton. Molly was the loving wife of the late Clarence “Gilbert” Greenwell, whom she married on October 16, 1971, in Immaculate Conception Catholic Church. She is survived by her daughter, Kim Greenwell (Danny) of Leonardtown, MD, her siblings, Wayne Pilkerton (Susie) of Hughesville, MD, Darlene Lewis-Adams (Mel) of LaPlata, MD, Maxine Wilkerson (Charles) of Hughesville, MD, and Loretta Olmstead (Jerry) of Hughesville, MD, four grandchildren, and six great-grandchildren. Molly was preceded in death by her son, Tony (Bridgett), of Mechanicsville, MD and her siblings, Laura May Flanary, Morris Pilkerton, Nancy Pilkerton, and Joe Joe Pilkerton.
Molly was a lifelong St. Mary’s County, MD resident and graduated from Chopticon High School in 1967. She was a Supply Technician for the Department of the U.S. Navy for 25 years, retiring in 2006. After her retirement from the government, Molly worked in the cafeteria at Chopticon High School.
Molly was very involved in her community and was a member of the Hollywood Ladies Auxiliary from 1989 until her passing. In addition, she was a member of the Mechanicsville Moose Lodge and the St. Mary’s County Women’s Horseshoe League, where she held the tile of “Top Single Points”, which she was very proud of. Molly’s favorite pastimes were playing Bingo and cards with her best friends. Most of all, she loved spending time with her family.
The family will receive friends on Friday, February 6, 2026, from 10:00 AM to 10:45 AM, with Hollywood Volunteer Fire Department Auxiliary prayers recited at 10:45 AM, in the Mattingley-Gardiner Funeral Home, Leonardtown, MD, where a funeral service will be held in the funeral home chapel at 11:00 AM, with Rev. Joseph Cwik officiating. Interment will follow at Charles Memorial Gardens, Leonardtown, MD. Serving as pallbearers will be Cody Greenwell, Brianna Greenwell, Danny Jennings, Glen Wood, Davis Lea, and Daquan Ellington.
