Carole Ann Allston
December 9, 1960 ~ February 5, 2026
Carole Ann Allston was born on December 9th, 1960, at St. Mary’s Hospital in Leonardtown, Maryland. She passed away in her home, holding the hands of her family, in the first few hours of February 5th.
Carole Ann was a lifelong learner and loved gardening, a good book on the beach, playing ping-pong, card games, and tennis with the ‘tennis peeps.’ She was a sports enthusiast, faithfully and loudly cheering on the Washington Commanders, even through their toughest seasons. She loved music, dancing, and, of course, a party!
She was the heartbeat of fun, love in action. Her essence was joy, and her superpower was sharing it with others.
She cherished her career and beloved colleagues at Washington Hospital Center, where she worked loyally in the Pathology Lab for 40 years. There, she found passion and purpose in knowing she was making a difference.
Her love lives on in the hearts of her husband, Ken; her children, Jessica (Mark) Lennox, Ben (Hailey) Allston, and Emily Allston; her grandchildren, William, Paul, and Charlotte; her parents, J. Louis and Elinor Mattingly; and her siblings, Larry (Karen) Mattingly, Keith Mattingly, and Deborah (Bob) Landreth.
Family will receive friends on Friday May 29th at 10:00AM at St. Aloysius Catholic Church for a visitation until 11:00AM where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by Father Peter Daley.
We look forward to celebrating our beloved Carole’s life and legacy at Jefferson Patterson State Park at 10515 Mackall Road, St. Leonard, MD on Saturday, May 30th from 2:00 PM to 6:00 PM.

I am so so sorry 🥹. She was the sweetest person 🙏
Ken and family, I am so sorry for your loss. Carole was a wonderful person and will surely be missed.
Ken and fami!y, so sorry to hear of the passing of Carol. Had not seen her recently. Really enjoyed time with her at Ryken/St. Mary’s Academy…class of 1978. Then we were part of the same friend group in college at Towson State. Had good times together. Carol was a real character…mass of personality. My thoughts and prayers are with the Allston and Mattingly families. Tony Wilkinson
To the Allston and Mattingly families, I was sad to hear of Carole’s passing. I was in the same class with Carole at FAW and have memories of her wonderful smile. Her photo says it all! My condolences to you all. Thanks to Ken and Carole for being good friends to my late brother Johnny.
Ken and family,
We are saddened by the passing of Carole as we were not aware she was struggling. I wanted to share this memory with you all…Very shortly before she passed we saw her with her grandchildren (I believe) walking down our street. They were pushing her in a wheelchair. They were all laughing and looked like they were having a good time. She gave us a big wave and a wonderful smile as we passed by.
Prayers of comfort to you all.
To the loved ones of Carole Allston, please accept my deepest sympathies for the loss of Carole. She was truly one of the most upbeat, friendly and sweet people I have ever known. I met Carole as a freshman at Towson University. I knew her brother Larry at Ryken playing basketball so we quickly became friends. We had many great times at Towson over our four years there and we often played intramural volleyball together. I still have a picture of our championship team in our 1970’s best athletic wear. I’m so sorry we didn’t stay in touch after college. I saw her about 30 years ago at BWI airport and it was awesome to see the same beautiful, sweet friend that I remember. She was with her beautiful little daughter. Our memories of her will keep her alive in all our hearts and minds. I know I will always treasure my memories of her. She lived a fulfilled life of joy and caring. God bless you all. Bob Hodges
To Carole’s family – I am so very sorry to hear about the passing of Carole. She was a beautiful person, inside and out. You never saw her without a smile on her face. She was such a breath of fresh air, everybody loved her. My heart goes out to Ken and their kids, and all the Mattingly family.
