Leona “Lonie” Virginia Stone, 84, of Hollywood, MD gently transitioned into the loving arms of the Lord on May 24, 2026, in Leonardtown, MD, surrounded by the love of her family. Born on May 31, 1941, in Hollywood, MD to the late Annie Louise Jones and Thomas Jarett Jones. Lonie was the loving wife of William B. Stone whom she married on December 12, 1959, at St. John’s Catholic Church in Hollywood, MD and who preceded her in death on November 28, 2013.
A devoted stay-at-home mother, Lonie poured her heart into raising her five children: Sherry, Billy, Brenda, Karen, and Jerry. She was a true lady who was always dressed to the nines, known for her vibrant red lipstick, matching scarlet nails, and beautifully teased, voluminous hair.
Throughout her life, Lonie enjoyed the simple pleasures of playing Bingo, trying her luck with the lottery, taking occasional trips to play the slots, and expressing her creativity through her ceramic and floral shop. She loved telling stories and reminiscing with family. Some of her favorite moments were spent playing a good game of Rummy late at night in the kitchen with her kids and grandkids.
More than anything, Lonie loved being a grandmother and great-grandmother. Her home was the center of every holiday celebration, where she took immense pride in creating magical memories. She filled her house with endless food, gifts, and laughter, ensuring every holiday was unforgettable. No one ever left her home hungry; her kitchen was always open, and her generous spirit made sure every plate was full. Her warm heart, infectious laughter, and beautiful legacy will be deeply missed by all who were blessed to know her.
She is survived by her children; Sherry James (Gil) of Mechanicsville, MD, Billy Stone of Hollywood, MD, Brenda Woodburn (Danny) of Mechanicsville, MD. She also leaves behind her grandchildren; Natalie Wood, Tiffany Reichard, Leah Woodburn, Jerry “JJ” Stone Jr., and Parker Stone and four great-grandchildren; Garrett Reichard, Harper Wolfe, Isabella Collins and Lucy Wolfe. Lonie is preceded in death by her son, Jerry Stone; her daughter, Karen Stone; and her siblings: Thomas Jones, Samuel Jones, Lindy Jones, Ruby Jones, Hilda Jones, Connie Copsey, Amanda Dean, Cecelia Morgan, Evelyn Clements, and Hoover Jones.
