Lois Jean (Kane) King, 92, died peacefully on July 20, 2026. Formerly of Pikesville, MD and Ocean City, MD, she was born on November 22, 1933, in Baltimore, MD and was the daughter of Leonard Francis Kane and Sarah Elizabeth (Baxter) (Kane) Wood. She is survived by her three sons, Steven L. King and his wife Karen B. King of Hollywood, M; James T. King and his wife Susan King of Parsonsburg, MD; and William L. King, Jr. of Wilmington, New York. She is survived by her 7 grandchildren: Christopher J. King and his wife Evelyn King of Hollywood, MD; Erin E. King of Hollywood, MD; Patricia (King) Tubbs and her husband Kyle Tubbs of Frankford, DE; Hannah (King) Ginn and her husband Prentiss Ginn of Pittsville, MD; Alexandria King of Parsonsburg, MD; Jared King of Salisbury, MD; and Sierra (King) Scherer and her husband Billy Scherer of Orange Park, FL. She is survived by 9 great grandchildren: Gabriella King; Jordyn Ginn; Raina Ginn; Fiona Tubbs; Harlow Tubbs; Asher Tubbs; Kaitlyn Scherer; Ethan Scherer; and Jayden Scherer. Lois was preceded in death by her three sisters, Gail (Kane) Miller, Linthicum, MD; Anne (Kane) Lindsay; Kathryn (Kane) Howarth, Hamilton, ON, Canada.

Lois loved steamed crabs and strawberries, country music, dancing, the beach, swimming in the ocean, bike riding, ice skating, babies, and wearing bright colored clothing. A member of the first graduating class (1952) of Milford Mill Senior High School, Baltimore County, MD, Lois never missed her class reunions. Her last one was her 69th. She loved her “Golden Years” with her senior friends in Ocean City dancing with Ed Bush at Jordon’s Roof Top, at Duffy’s, and line dancing at the Rec Center. She adored her three sons, her grandchildren and great grandchildren, and her many nieces and nephews. She retired to Cedar Lane Senior Living Community in 2019 in Leonardtown, St. Mary’s County, MD, near her beloved son, Steve, and his family.
The family will receive friends on Tuesday, July 28, 2026, from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM, in the Mattingley-Gardiner Funeral Home, P.A., Leonardtown, MD. Prayers will be recited at 7:00 PM. Graveside service and interment will be held on Wednesday, July 29, 2026, at 1:00 PM, at the Mount Olive United Methodist Church Cemetery, 5115 Old Court Road, Randallstown, MD.

Serving as pallbearers will be Steve King, Christopher King, Tim King, Prentiss Ginn, Kyle Tubbs, and Jared King. Honorary pallbearer will be Stu Garlington.
