Barbara Lee Keating

With hearts full of gratitude, faith, and love, we announce the passing of our dear mother, Barbara Lee Keating. She was surrounded by her loyal and faithful family during her final days. At age 87, Barbara went peacefully to be with the Lord on October 21, 2026, at the Hospice House in Callaway, Maryland.

Barbara is survived by her four loving children and their devoted spouses: Laura and Bill Diggle, John and Lisa Keating, Brian and Patti Keating, and Julie and Chris Dobry.

As well as her beautiful and adored 13 grandchildren, and 9 great-grandchildren. She often expressed how blessed she was to have the love and compassion from the family God gave her.

Our mother will certainly be remembered for her love of butterflies, birds and squirrels, chocolate treats, hazelnut coffee, her collection of house plants, Van Gogh art, getaway trips to the beach, and her funny sense of humor! Above all, Mom adored her family and truly treasured every visit, phone call, lunch date, and family gathering.

During her career she enjoyed her position at the University of North Carolina, as well as her dream job at the Lexington Park library in Maryland before she retired.

A celebration of life will be held for Barbara on Thursday, October 29, 2026, from 1:30 to 3:00 at the Mattingley Gardiner Funeral Home. Where a Prayer service will be held at 3:00 PM in the funeral home chapel with Rev. Ray Schmidt officiating.  Interment will be held privately.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be sent to Hospice of St. Mary’s, P.O. Box 625, Leonardtown, MD 20650.
