Michael James Kennedy, Sr.
Michael James Kennedy, Sr., of Ormond Beach, FL, passed away on September 1, 2016. Born on February 24, 1930 in Topeka, KS, he was the son of Grace and Walter Kennedy. He is preceded in death by his wives Susie Kennedy and Bette Kennedy. Michael is survived by his two children, Michael Kennedy, Jr. of Ormond Beach, FL and Debbie Gardner of Laurel, MD. He had 6 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren.
He is also survived by 2 sisters and 1 brother, Maureen Gieber, Virginia Seliger, and Charles Kennedy. He worked as a photographer in the Navy for 20 years and then worked an additional 20 years as a civil servant performing the same duties. With his wife Susie, he spent every weekend with Hattie and Gibbons Guy from 1968 through 1984 helping with tobacco farming and acting as a son and a brother to Guy family members.
He was a wonderful, loving husband, father, and grandfather, and he will be dearly missed.
The family will receive friends on Saturday, September 17, 2016 from 10AM to 11 AM in the Mattingley-Gardiner Funeral Home, Leonardtown, MD. A Funeral Service will follow in the Funeral Home Chapel at 11:00 AM with Father David Beaubien officiating. Interment will follow in Charles Memorial Gardens in Leonardtown, MD.
